Did anyone here have a sand ceremony, we would really love one, but im getting married at SBP, could anyone see what as a problem? (were getting married in may.) How breezey is SBP? would sand go everywhere? :rotfl:

Does anyone have any pictures of their sand ceremony?
How much does it cost?
What vases do disney have for you to choose from?

Any help or pictures would be great :goodvibes thank you!

I don't have any pictures or anything because I haven't had my wedding yet, but we are doing a sand ceremony.

You can rent the things for the ceremony from Disney for $25. I don't have pictures, but they are pretty plain, round jars. We ended up purchasing our own sand and jars (that we can keep) for about $20. I bought everything at Michaels craft store, they have a lot of variety in style and price, and they have coupons!

I cannot for the life of me remember screen names, but I know that I have seen sand ceremonies done at SBP. I think some brides may have even chosen this because they were afraid of a unity candle blowing out if there was a breeze. I suggest looking through some pj/tr's from SBP and you will be able to find pictures there.

Hopefully this helps you a little!

Here is one of our pictures of our sand ceremony

We're doing a sand ceremony (SBP) in February, but I didn't know what I'd do with a jar of sand in our house when we got back! I looked on Etsy and there are sellers with photo frames that you fill with sand! So I thought that would be a more useful thing...we're going to fill the photo frame and then later on put a picture of the wedding in there. So, there's other options out there other than the jar! Someone on here had an hourglass, it was really pretty.

We had a sand ceremony at our wedding a year ago. We were supposed to be at the YCG, but it was raining and we were moved to the Yacht Club Rotunda.

We bought the glasses at Michael's and then I jazzed them up a little to fit with our theme.

The one thing I forgot was to pick up the stand and I kept saying, "oh, I'll just get it from Michael's in FL" Well, I never got a chance to go and before I know it, it is the night before the wedding. Since we were staying at the Beach Club the night before, I picked up some sand from the beach and brought it to the room to dry out. Well it was so humid, that the sand was still wet and hard to get into the bottles.

Looks like everything is going well..

Until the sand would not come out of the bottle..

Made for a good laugh and a few minutes of beating the glasses. Hopefully you will have better luck than I!!!

I ordered my set online and had it shipped directly to my planner. I just went to google and typed in "sand ceremony kits" and found one I liked!

We didn't do a sand ceremony, but we had a number of items that were needed during the ceremony and cake cutting (Loving Cup, Mead, Cake Server Set, Program Fans, Champagne Flutes etc.) and as an Escape bride, I had the same worry. I just put everything in a big zip top shopping bag and gave it to my SIL as she would see my planner Tanis before I would.

When my SIL went downstairs and left just me and MOH upstairs, she gave Tanis the bag and everything was all set up at SBP. I had given a list to Tanis previously of what would be handed off to her beforehand.
The good thing about having that bag was after the ceremony, we added stuff to it (ie. cake topper etc.)

They're the kind of bags they sell in tourist places (like I know I've seen them here in NYC). They sell them in the stores on property for like $10 or something I think. They are a reusable bag, they're huge and they zip across the top...I tried to find a link but couldn't..

We had a Sand Ceremony and I purchased it online from here. It was the nesting set. I loved it because it's a little more modern. We personalized them with our names and wedding date too. To answer a few of your q's:

How breezey is SBP? would sand go everywhere? :rotfl:
SBP can definitely get quite breezy depending on the weather. No, sand won't fly everywhere though. It was really breezy on our wedding night (you can see I had to hold my veil), but sand won't go flying.

Does anyone have any pictures of their sand ceremony? Yep. it's below.

How much does it cost? Ours was roughly $40, but I added personalization so it may have been a little more. I got the sand from Disney floral and that was $10.

What vases do disney have for you to choose from? Disney only has 1 or 2 to choose from and it looks a lot like a yankee candle jar. I think Dznygal got hers from them.

Everything that we provided was dropped off at Franck's when we arrived. They have a storage room of sorts to keep items and they bring everything to the venues for you.

Something else- ours doesn't have a lid, but it come with a foam stopper to "lock" the sand in place for transport. We had virtually no shifting of the sand so it basically looks just as we poured it.

HTH!! :goodvibes

You are very welcome! :cutie: Franck's is a Bridal studio (based on the one in the movie "Father of the Bride") adjacent to the Wedding Pavilion where they hold Planning Sessions and have tons and tons of things on display to gather ideas from. For example: cakes, floral arrangements, tablescapes, favors, invitations, etc.

Oh and I saw on the previous post that you asked what SIL was...SIL= Sister in law. :goodvibes

Thanks for posting this. It is just so great. We did the candle ceremony in
Epcot in Italy and it was so windy we could not get the candles to stay lit.

I was alittle sorry we did not do the sand ceremony. I guess nothing is perfect.

I am planning to do a family sand ceremony at our VR in May. I have found the set I like and planned to have it shipped to our planner. Then my daughter voiced the concern that we would not be allowed to bring it home in out hand baggage on the aeroplane (we live in the UK). I must admit the thought hadn't occurred to me. We could wrap it up really well and put it in checked baggage, but this is obviously very risky as the sand will probably get all 'mixed up'. I guess the only thing is to do the ceremony as usual, have somebody take a picture of how it looks, then empty out the sand, pack it well and transport it home in checked baggage and when home reassemble it with fresh sand using the picture as a guide. Not the same, I know but it may be the only option!! Anybody got any other ideas? I would be grateful to hear them!!

I live in the UK too :) i thought about this too. What i am going to do it make sure that the sand it packed as tight to the lid as possible, then hopefully it should stay still. I think i'd rather risk it mixing then loosing it all together. :rotfl: maybe try doing that?

What a nice pic though! I think that these types of things make a wedding unique and memorable and more true to life...that nothing is perfect but appreciate the moments :)

Thank you about the picture and you are so right about a good story. We always talk about how we could not get the candles lit and yes, we do laugh about it.
