Hi everyone!

I'm thinking about a sand ceremony for our 2014 DFTW, and yes I know it's a billion years away but I was wondering if anyone has any pictures of the sand ceremony kits you can get from Disney? I know I can probably get cheaper ones but travelling from the UK I'm looking for an easy life!

I'd need one with a stopper, and hopefully one that locks the sand in place so it won't move in transit. If Disney can't supply an appropriate one I will look elsewhere but thought they were a good place to start!

TIA! :cloud9:

Sweetie - Just be sure that your flight carrier back to the UK will allow you to take the glass bottles etc back home on the plane in you hand luggage. We were going to do a family sand ceremony for our VR in May and when I asked Virgin, they said that I would not be allowed to transport glass in my hand luggage. Since it would probably not have survived intact in the checked in suitcases, we ended up binning the idea!! Just a heads up for you!!

I'll definatly be asking the question thanks Tink ;) It's weird tho isn't it, as they let you carry big bottles of alcohol on the plane? I've had some pretty impressive stuff survive in my checked luggage before (I'm an Aussie living in London so I travel to and from Australia often) but will definatly check it out in more detail, thanks for the heads up x

On reflection, I think maybe that they were more concerned about the sand etc (? containing chemicals etc) whereas the big bottles of alcohol are from duty free and from air-side shops. I don't know really. I hope you can find a way around it!!

I will find you the website of where we bought our sand ceremony items. (I am sneaking away on here at work...hehehe) We bought a frame that is 11x9 and holds a 5x7 picture and around five pounds of sand. (we have six people pouring) It is awesome because the picture goes in front and the sand is all poured behind it. It has an amazing lid that will keep everything in place. My wedding is in 10 days (yay) and I can get you pictures from that as well!

Promise though.... tonight I will find the website for you!

Sorry for the delay!!! Above is where we bought our sand ceremony picture frame. I love it and am super excited for it. You have the option to fill it all the way or half of the way. If you choose to only go half way there is this really neat piece that slides down to hold the sand in place. We also got the glass etched with our names and wedding date.

HTH :goodvibes

Lol hijack away Emz, I can't wait to see the pics either!

We used the Sand Ceremony kit that Disney supplies. I believe it was around $35 which included the sand. Here are a few pics of it.

This was before they put the stopper on top

Here it is sitting on our mantle at home. You can see that not one grain of sand has moved.

Here you can kind of see how they were layed out for the ceremony.

We had a total of four jars to pour 4 different colors of sand into the main jar. Each one has it's own lid with stopper. HTH some! :goodvibes

I was just wondering what you do with the sand after the ceremony and that frame idea was a perfect solution! I love it! I was going to do the traditional candle ceremony but I'm really liking this idea!

Thanks ladies some great ideas here!

I love both the photo frame and the one supplied by Disney, I just don't know if I can get the photo frame shipped to the UK... I wonder if Disney can organise engraving? Or maybe I can get it engraved when we get home...

Did you buy the glass etching from michaels also? or a local company?

The etching is from Michaels, I can't find on their website, but it's where the "scrapbooking" items are. It's actually a "rub-on" with multiple sayings, for example:

Our Happy family
I Love You
Joy
Our Family
Togetherness
Precious Memories
Cherish the moment
Love one another
Smile
Family Fun

The actual SKU (from my receipt) is 88359040939 at it was $2.99 - it's made by Deja Views and its called Wonderful Words Family LIfe rub ons.

Well, we did our vow renewal at Luau Beach on the 5th- perfect weather! Randy was fabulous! We did our sand ceremony - and grabbed a handfull of poly beach sand and topped our vase with it. I'll get pics together and post. The only issue that arose - when we flew back from MCO - the TSA thought (I packed in carry-on) we had an urn with ashes in it, they politely asked (after screening on xray) if they can look at it further, to which we had zero objections. They were fine once they actually saw the sand and no issues.
