Sand at BCV

I asked a lifeguard when we visited in Sept. '02, and She said she thought it came from Arizona.

That's not real sand, is it?? I live in sand dunes on Lake Michigan, and it's nothing like the stuff on the bottom of SAB. I think that stuff is, like plastic, perhaps, but Michigan sand, at least, is very fine. It comes thru the screens on a windy day, comes in thru any cracks and crevices, and is a general nuisance. The stuff in SAB is like small pieces of rock, more like a pumice stone. Isn't it silica???? Inquiring minds want to know the answer to this one!!

I've joked about Jersey sand on other threads, but I wouldn't be surprised if the sand at SAB did come from here. We have probably the best silica sand in the country,we export it everywhere.

I've had sand in cracks and crevices and I would consider it MORE than just a nuisance....it could be darn right painful! :p

Especially when my DS (3 1/2 yrs old) sits in the ocean tide and lets the waves come around him and deposit sand!!!

Thanks
Jason

Florida is mostly sand - take a walk in the woods area of FW or Epcot and push the dirt up - sand is under it.
