That's not real sand, is it?? I live in sand dunes on Lake Michigan, and it's nothing like the stuff on the bottom of SAB. I think that stuff is, like plastic, perhaps, but Michigan sand, at least, is very fine. It comes thru the screens on a windy day, comes in thru any cracks and crevices, and is a general nuisance. The stuff in SAB is like small pieces of rock, more like a pumice stone. Isn't it silica???? Inquiring minds want to know the answer to this one!!
I've joked about Jersey sand on other threads, but I wouldn't be surprised if the sand at SAB did come from here. We have probably the best silica sand in the country,we export it everywhere.
