Sand and Sun ~ Trip Number Ten Was Lots of Fun! Clearwater Beach & YC, August 2013

Hi Shelly! It looks like we will be in Disney World the same time in January. I'm going with my grandma. When went at the same time last year and it was a blast. The parks were practically empty!

I'm enjoying your trip report so far! I can't believe how much your boys have grown since I first started on the Dis in 2008!

Hey Kait! :yay: How have you been?

Congrats on your January trip! Maybe we'll run into you!! So glad to hear that was a good week to go last year. Hopefully it will be the same this time! :wizard:

I know, my kids were so little back then. Not anymore. :faint:

Wednesday, August 20:

Today was our sleep in day! We slept until probably about 9:00. :cloud9: DH and DS12 went over to the BW Bakery for coffee and cinnamon rolls. DS14 and I headed down to the pool around 10:00. It was just opening up. So peaceful and empty! Not something you see at SAB very often.

We stayed for about 2 hours and then went over to the BC Marketplace to grab some lunch. DS14 got a pb&j uncrustable meal. DS12 and I shared a flatbread pizza. And DH got the roast beef sandwich and cucumber salad. We also got some desserts to share.

We ate outside behind the BC Marketplace. The food was just okay. Kind of what we expected, we have had food from there before.

After lunch we went back up to the room and got showered and ready for our afternoon/evening at MK!! Day 5 of vacation and we were finally going to MK!

We headed out to the bus stop around 1:50. Our first FP+ was from 2-3pm for BTMRR. Should be no problem getting there by 3:00, right? :faint:

We had to wait about 20 minutes on a bus. The bus stopped at the BC only and then was off to MK!

DisneyAugust2013417_zpseae006ce.jpg

DS12 apparently had the camera on the bus and decided to try his hand at a selfie!! And I got caught in it too!

DisneyAug2013KidsPics022_zpsfa043e0c.jpg

There seemed to be a lot of traffic and the trip took a little longer than we expected. So by the time we got there, went through security, and got inside of MK it was about 2:40.

DisneyAugust2013418_zps1bcaa166.jpg

Just as we got inside of MK the train was pulling up to the station, so we thought it would be the quickest way to get to BTMRR. So we ran up the stairs and got onto the train. And then we sat there..... After about 5 minutes an announcement came on that we were waiting “a few minutes” on the 3:00 parade to pass by before we could get going. The 3:00 parade, how could I have been so dumb??? :faint: Good grief. So now we were stuck making the choice to wait it out or get off and run to BTMRR... After a few more minutes lots of people starting to get off the train. We decided to wait it out since our FP+ was going to expire at 3:00 we knew that if the train ever got started again we could get to Frontierland quicker than walking. So we waited, and waited. A “few minutes” my behind!! And it was so stinking hot sitting there on that train.

Continued in next post....

Continued...

By the time we got going and got over to Frontierland and to BTMRR it was 3:07. Our FP+ was for 2-3pm. I figured it wouldn't work and I was prepared to tell the CM the whole story of why we didn't make our time and how we had left our resort 1 hour and 15 minutes ago, not expecting the CM to care. But we walked up and tapped our bands and the mickey head lit up green and we walked right through! Wow. All that stressing for nothing. So, between that and other experiences I am convinced that the FP+ works 5 minutes early and up to maybe 10-15 minutes late.

DisneyAugust2013421_zps1bad70ad.jpg

The standyby line was long. I think it said something like 20 minutes, but looked more like 45+. I felt kind of bad flying right by all those people in line.

DisneyAugust2013422_zps64a9b5cb.jpg

We had a fun ride!! Well, all of us except for DS12. He really tries to like this ride, but he just doesn't. He nearly ripped my arm off holding on so tight around the bends. :confused3

I decided it was my turn for a selfie!!

DisneyAugust2013424_zpsaddb434f.jpg

What a bunch of dorks!! :crazy2::rotfl:

Just as our ride was about to end it started to rain a bit. By the time we got off the ride and walked to the exit and had to go back outside it was pouring!! :( Everyone was bunched up at the exit waiting on the rain to let up and a couple of CM's came out and started yelling at everyone that we had to leave! So we put on our ponchos and headed out.

DisneyAugust2013427_zps6b53cbed.jpg

DisneyAugust2013428_zps2c7784d7.jpg

It was a nasty, miserable rain and I was certain it wasn't going to let up all night. :sad2:

Luckily since it was well after 3:00 now we had another FP+! This one was for the HM from 3-4:00. So we headed over there.

OMG.

OH my GOSH!!!!

Bless your hearts!!:worried:

No I mean REALLY, bless your hearts. (Not the snarky nice-nasty kind. I'm talking the real deal here.) ::yes:: That was just an awful thing to go thru-- all of that waiting and stressing out only to get there, for the FP to work, then for it to rain. Holy cow. What a pain. :(

SAB sounds like it was a fun time in the morning. Even the ducks seemed to like it.

Those cupcakes looked soooooo dang good. My goodness. Wish I had one right now.
oooooooooh, wait. I have a GF cupcake in the freezer!! Squeeeeeeeeeeeee! :yay: I have to go dig it out.

I am so in trouble. I don't even care if it has freezer burn I am so eating that sucker. :crazy2:

See what happens when I read your TR? You are a bad influence on me!!

Thanksalotmissthang!!!!!!:p

Wow! It never occurred to me, until you pointed it out, that you were so far into your trip before going to the MK! I don'tknow if I could go that long before seeing the castle!

SAB looks so peaceful! Early is obviously the key to going there! I guess it pays to get up early, and this was even your sleep-in day. ;)

Love your cute sunglasses!

I can just imagine that feeling of what to do - stay on the train or hoof it to BTMR. :confused3 I cannot stand being late, or to be more specific, the feeling of "Holy crap, I'm gonna be late!" And then your anxiety was all for naught. (all for naught....is that a southern thing or just an old thing?) I would have probably ended up with a headache. :upsidedow Good to know they give you a little leeway with the FP times. :thumbsup2

Seems kind of thoughtless for the CM to be hollering for everyone to run out in the rain. I mean, I guess they have to keep the walkways clear, but geez. If it was me, and I didn't have a poncho (OK, I guess to be at Disney in the summer without a poncho you're asking for it ) I don't know if I would have obeyed.

I'm with Jodi.....those desserts look so good. Unfortunately, I don't have anything like it in my freezer. :sad2: I would have liked for you to be a bad influence on me. :p

We all love BTMRR!!! I would have been stressed too. That is just yet another reason why I hate WDW transportation. Over an hour to get there- give me a break!!
Well good thing the FP worked late. That's good to know. :) Although that could be temporary- who knows??

Well I did get an email reply from Disney-finally. I think it was exactly 10 days and it was Sunday. AnywayI wish I knew how to post it here, but it said something like we are glad you are part of our passholder family and I'm sorry about the disappointments you experienced on your last visit.
We are currently testing my magic+ with onsite guests right now. Our passholders are very important to us and we look forward to making my magic+ available to our passholders in the next few months. Please know that your feedback has been taken seriously and shared with the appropriate leaders.
I am happy but I just don't understand why they can't give a date or at least the month.
That's great but doesn't help me with my December trip which is going to be pure insanity w/out FP. So maybe by the Feb. trip. ???

Jodi, I agree! A REAL bless your heart! I hate that feeling!! And T~not sure if it's southern or old..probably both~I say it too!:rotfl2:

Thanks, I needed blessed. I thought I was going to have a heart attack right there in the MK. Either that or a heat stroke. :faint: I was so mad and frustrated!! :furious:

How was your cupcake??? :teeth: I owed you one for being my "pusher" for something the other day!! ;):rotfl:

Yep, just finally getting around to going to MK! :upsidedow I find it is usually well worth it to wait until mid week to head to MK. ::yes::

What a disaster that day was though. :faint: As I continue you will see that wasn't the only bit of bad luck we would have that evening. :sad2:

Yeah, the CM's were a bit nasty about it. And some people were refusing to leave!! We got out of there before an all out brawl broke out! :rotfl:

Yeah, it shouldn't have taken that long to get there. And then the whole train hold up. What a mess. Talk about being stressed.

Well that is interesting... It's like -- our passholders are very important to us, BUT too bad. :confused3 I'd say it is not very likely that they will have anything changed by your December trip. But probably for February. Hopefully!

Jodi, I agree! A REAL bless your heart! I hate that feeling!! And T~not sure if it's southern or old..probably both~I say it too!

It was an awful feeling!!

Okay, so it's old southerners??? :lmao::rotfl:

I say naught too. And I'm middle aged.:lmao: Not as "middle aged" as SOME people, now mind you. (No one here on this thread, all y'all quit looking 'round pointing fingers). Just SOME people.:rotfl:

Okay and seriously .... my cupcake is sitting on my counter defrosting. I had to stand on my head and dig thru hamburger and chicken and found it there on the shelf half squished. But I am eating that dang thing in a few minutes. It's strawberry. The icing tastes like Strawberry Quick. :cloud9: Well it will probably be Strawberry Quick with a Slight dash of Freezer Burn but.... I. Do. Not. CARE.

And yeah, Pusher/Pushee. Same diff.;)

get this y'all ....our worship leader brought the message yesterday for our church service, and he is a transplant from Jersey~said that 'y'all' is really catchy and they love the word ,and they have learned about 'fixin' to' since they got to Texas and they like it too!! LOL:rotfl2: I was cracking up!

I love it! Y'all just makes such good sense. Other than "you guys", what else do people use in the situation? :confused3 Not everyone may be a guy!

OK, now I better get off the Dis. I'm fixin' to make fajitas for dinner!

Shut up!!! I made fajitas for supper too!! :faint:

Okay -- as far as 'y'all'--- and pronunciations---
In PGH they said yinz. But I don't think I have ever heard Shelly say that! :rotfl:

And when we lived in Rochester NY they pronounced 'you' as 'yow'.
Like, I would say haaay - cause thats how I say it, all drawn out -- to the checkout girl and she would say "how are yow?" It rhymed with cow. ::yes::

I even had a realtor whose last name was Sirline, and when she called on the phone the first time to introduce herself I thought she said Sirloin. Thats the way she pronounced it, sirloin.
Swear to you I hung up and told M that our realtor was named after a cut of beef. He was all wut???

:)

We have never scheduled a sleep in day to just enjoy the pool. Maybe we should really consider doing that for our May trip and really enjoy SAB.

You did an awesome time scheduling your FP+ times. Did you pick afternoon or evening to end up with those times?

hahaha!!! that's great!:rotfl2: What the heck is Yinz? How does that work in a sentence? I would crack up!!!

Yinz =

Yinz coming to the party?

How yinz doing? (Whereas in the South, you'd say "How's yo' mama n'dem?")

Yinz ready?

I'm telling you it took forever to learn what they meant. Most of the time I couldn't understand a lot of people when they spoke, esp the people that were downtown. (Or, the way they pronounced it-- "dahntahn". I made a taxi driver say that word about six times once. Even my girlfriend who moved there and was born and raised in Buffalo--- BUFFALO (!) couldn't understand them sometimes!):rotfl: They just make up their own words.:goodvibes

They say something about getting something Redd up and I never did understand that one.
I even had to pass a billboard every day when we lived there, with the Mayor's picture on it and it said "Redd up Pittsburgh!" and every day for six months I would say, what the *bleep* does that mean???:worried: I was scared to ask someone.:rotfl2:

And once a lady told me that her neighbor was really "nebby" and I just nodded bc I had NO CLUE what that meant but I think I figured out it means nosy.

It's so interesting to me the different things different regions say!!

girl that is hilarious!!! I have heard redd up,but didn't know what it meant either...I do love to hear the people from up north speak...such a change from how we all talk.

:rotfl2:

You ladies are cracking me up!!! :lmao:

Or should I say - yinz are cracking me up?!! :rotfl:

No, I don't say yinz. Actually not too many people I know say that. But, it is known for being said in this area.

I stick with - 'you guys'

Now, Redd up your room == Go clean your room!!

Duh :faint:

:thumbsup2

:lmao:

Well I'm glad we can keep ourselves entertained in here. Since NO ONE IS READING THIS TR!!! :sad2: I'm about to ditch the dang thing. Too much work for 5 readers! :faint:

But we can just hang out in here and make fun of how each other talk! ::yes::

:rotfl:

I try to plan at least 1-2 sleep in days and pool time. Just makes the trip feel more relaxed. It will be easier to do now with the FP+. No need to worry about always being there are RD to ride the favorites and get FP's.

I don't remember what I picked. I think I just chose one of the 3 offered and then went in and changed each of them to suit our plans! :thumbsup2

Shut up!!! I made fajitas for supper too!! :faint:

I will not! :p Love fajitas! So simple to make, and best of all, no side dishes required! At least that's my philosophy.

Okay -- as far as 'y'all'--- and pronunciations---
In PGH they said yinz. But I don't think I have ever heard Shelly say that! :rotfl:

Yinz?!?! :scratchin I have never heard of that in my life! You never know, Shelly could be a closet yinz'er. ;)

And when we lived in Rochester NY they pronounced 'you' as 'yow'.
Like, I would say haaay - cause thats how I say it, all drawn out -- to the checkout girl and she would say "how are yow?" It rhymed with cow. ::yes::

I am learning all kinds of things today! Never heard of anyone pronouncing you as "yow". BTW, you have lived in lots of places, haven't you?

I even had a realtor whose last name was Sirline, and when she called on the phone the first time to introduce herself I thought she said Sirloin. Thats the way she pronounced it, sirloin.
Swear to you I hung up and told M that our realtor was named after a cut of beef. He was all wut???

:)

:rotfl2: Was Sirline in the South? I can kind of imagine a Southerner making it sound like sirloin. :o Plus, Sirline has a southern ring to it. We like our "lines" down here.
