Has anyone eaten there yet? or come across any reviews?

We have a reservation there for july, so hoping to hear some positive feedback :)

Have you seen these photos?

I know they're publicity photos, not photos from actual visitors, but they look delicious! Maybe a little on the small side, though it's hard to tell because of the camera angles, but they look very fancy!

There are also a few interior shots here:

They did a very nice job on decor! It looks like a fun and festive, but still upscale, place to dine.

We ate there last night...

First off, it is really hard to find..we couldn't figure out where to park and then it took two CM's to guide us to the restaurant!

The scallop appetizer was excellent, that was my favorite item that we ordered. The sustainable fish and the tandoori chicken were also very good.

We had the bread sampler where you choose breads and dips. It was good, nothing that great. The hummas was very good and the cucumber raita (sp) was similar to tzaki sauce. We also got the mango chutney which I didn't care for.

We had the salad sampler with the beet salad, carrot salad and the potato spinach salad. None of these were anything I would order again. The carrot salad was the best of the three, but still nothing I would order again.

We ordered both soups, tomato with paneer cheese and the tanddori chicken and vegetable. The tomato soup was good, nothing remarkable. The chicken soup was very tasty.

We got the desert sampler which had the chocolate eggless cake, no sugar added mango mousse, and an orange butter cake. The orange butter cake was disgusting, my guest had to spit it out. The chocolate cake was pretty good and the mango mousse was fine. Again, nothing I would be rushing back to get.

Overall, I would go back for the scallops alone, they were amazing! I would skip the salads next time and definately try the breads with dips again. It was a good meal, just steer clear of the orange dessert! :)

As far as atmosphere, it feels alot like Boma, the coolest part is that you can see out to the savannah and see the animals while you eat.

ooh thankyou very much for posting this! :goodvibes im very excited! especially as go get to see the animals as you eat! that will be lovely :)

thanks again

thanx for the information...we have ressies in july and i hope by then all of the kinks will be worked out...

sitting & watching the animals would be worth it. We stayed @ AKL last trip. So, we won't be doing African this time. IT IS going on the list for the following trip. Thanks for the review.

Thank you for posting all this info! Is Sanaa considered a signature restaurant?

No it is not considered a Signature Restaurant. It is billed as a Family restaurnat.
It is 1 TS credit on the DDP

I am getting so excited about visting thsi and few other new restaurants, thanks for all the information.:lovestruc

I had all my restaurants picked out for Oct 2010 (Yea, I plan a little in advance) and then they had to open this place up! It's SO my kind of food... if the reviews sound good, I may just have to move some things around *sigh*.

I had lunch here on opening weekend, and I give it a definite thumbs up.

We had the appetizer sampler, which was a potato and pea samosa with a mango chutney, a tamarind lamb meatball with mint, and roasted cauliflower. The lamb kefta was exceptional, and the other two items were very good as well. We also had the salad sampler. We chose carrot + orange + mint, roasted beet, and okra, radish, and tomato. They were all fine. I guess they tasted exactly as they sound, not anything unexpected or surprising. I love roasted beets, and these were executed well, so I was glad to have that, but the rest were just okay.

For an entree, we had the pork chop with pickled lime sauce and ginger, which was very satisfying, and we also got the Indian combination where you get to choose from a shortlist of options. We got chicken with red curry, as well as the beef short ribs. The short ribs were wonderful and melted in your mouth. I thought the chicken was a little lackluster for a curry.

The portions were very generous, even for a lunch, and we were too full for dessert. They don't hold back on the spice, which I appreciated very much. The lamb kefta and the potato samosa were quite spicy.

Another interesting thing is that the kids' meals are great! We even ordered one extra kids' meals to share among the adults. The kids' meal had a beautifully grilled fish with salt and pepper, and they weren't shy about the seasonings. They also had brown rice pilaf (instead of the ubiquitous Disney fries) and a yogurt, granola, strawberry parfait for dessert.

The restaurant is completely gorgeous. There are several rooms each decorated differently. One small side room looks like a tent, with moroccan-style lamps hanging from the ceiling. The main dining room is made to look like you're dining under the canopy of a big shade tree, and the whole restaurant overlooks the savanna. It's a beautiful setting for a meal.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one. Just as Coral Reef has those amazing views of the Seas aquarium, so Sanaa has the savannah views. What a great feature! I sure hope Sanaa stays true to its "charter." Like it's AKL sisters, perhaps it will continue to offer ethnic specialties. Good for them!

We ate at Sanaa Sunday night, we really enjoyed it!
Our server was very helpful and knowledgble, everything he recommended was very good.
Expect bold flavours and fun dishes to experience.
Definitely try the slow cooked entrees and the banana wrapped
wild striped bass.
Very nice kids menu as well with plenty of choices.
It as good as Jiko FOr a fraction of the price!

Sounds good and I love that you can see the animals! You guys are making me reconsider our ADRs for next week. Unfortunately I think the only thing that would make sense would be to do this instead of my birthday dinner at the CA grill. Not sure if it's worth the switch. On the other hand then we'd have one extra TS credit to use. Hmmm.
