First of all I want to say how devastated I am for everyone living on these islands...my heart breaks for them:( I feel bad thinking about a vacation at a time like this but I'm really up in the air on what to do and need advice...

We're booked right now for a repo out of NYC next November, 2018...it ends in San Juan and visits Tortola and St. Kitts. I know it's over a year away but I'm worried about visiting these ports given the amount of damage they've endured. I've read some reports it could be well over a year before they're getting back to normal and ready for tourists. I'm thinking about possibly changing to a 5 night Bermuda out of NYC Oct 2018 instead...what would you do in this situation?

This is definitely a case where there is PLENTY of time, so if at all possible, you could book the Bermuda cruise also and make the decision as to which to cancel closer to the PIF date - which is still a long time away. There will be a whole winter season to see what is going on with the ports by then. And theoretically get reports from those of us on cruises in the next few months.

I wish I could book the Bermuda one on top of the one I already have booked but that's not an option right now:( So I kind of feel like I need to make a decision...I would wait until closer to but I'm worried about the Bermuda one getting more expensive the closer we get...ugh I just don't know what to do.

Bermuda is new for DCL. We booked one of those cruises since it could be the only chance to go with Disney. The 2019 cruises are not out yet so nobody knows if they will go again. I would book Bermuda.

I know that was another selling point for me...plus I love how it stays two nights back to back in Bermuda. There's so much time to explore and not have to be so worried about making it back to the ship. Which one are you on? I'm looking at the 5 night on Oct. 29th

I agree that the storm damage to these islands is very tragic. However since your cruise is just over a year away I would wait to see what happens. The cruise industry is very important to these islands and I would hope that repairs will be made as soon as they can. I would definitely wait at least six months to reevaluate your situation and if need to reschedule your cruise than do so.

I was thinking about waiting but I'm worried about prices going up so I feel like I need to make a decision pretty soon:(

Is it possible that you can leave a deposit for the other cruise just to hold a spot/price and then if you decide to keep your existing cruise you can get your deposit back.

I wish I could do this but I can't swing another deposit right now:( I wish I could though as this would be a great solution!

How close are the prices now? Could you keep an eye on them and when they get too close for comfort, make the decision?

This is a good idea! I may do this...i may just keep the cruise we have booked and hope for the best. It's over a year away and I know a lot can happen in a year

Very true this happened to us on the Fantasy this past summer...we had to miss a port bc of a tropical storm. I need to stop over thinking and just stick with the cruise we have booked lol

Trust me - I understand 100%! I'm booked on the Wonder Eastern from Port Canaveral to St Maarten and San Juan (and Castaway - but as of now she's escaped any real damage) on 2/18. I've definitely been rethinking that - but there are no perfect options (Wonder there is the question of the ports and their readiness and will there be a late change; Fantasy there is Star Wars which I'm not a fan of and one less sea day; land and sea on the Dream it's only 4 nights). So I debate and debate.

You have a whole year to find out what's gonna happen. I would just wait and hope for the best.
