San Francisco to Santa Maria?

Hello. We will be travelling down PCH 1 in June from San Francisco to LA. I booked a hotel in Santa Maria. Is this doable? We will likely stop a few places along the way to see some good scenery and possible a tour at Hearst Castle which we could do late afternoon. Thanks.

Very doable. If you want to visit Hearst Castle, make sure to book your tour in advance. http://hearstcastle.org/ They sell out frequently.

BTW, you'll only be traveling on PCH after you pass Ventura. Before that, you'll be on the Cabrillo Highway section of Highway 1.

Thanks! I have toured Hearst Castle before with my husband but this time we will have our 18 year old daughter...not sure she will want to tour but will probably go look at it anyway. We will likely stop at Nepenthe for lunch as it is beautiful.

It is doable we did San Francisco to San Diego in an RV. We stopped close to Saint Maria on our second day.

We stopped at Monterey for the aquarium on the way and would have loved more time in the peninsula.
