I don't know if you're interested, but I don't see that its been mentioned -- from now until next April, Alcatraz is hosting several art installations by the (in)famous Chinese artist Ai Wei Wei: http://www.for-site.org/project/ai-weiwei-alcatraz/. There's no extra cost on top of the standard Alcatraz tour. Something to look out for.
