San Diego Wild Animal Park

During our recent trip to DL a couple of weeks ago, we made a visit to the Wild Animal Park. I thought I'd share a few of the shots I took. I enjoyed the birds more than anything even though the rest of the park was quite enjoyable. I'd recommend it if you get the chance to go.


This balloon takes you up 400 feet, tethered by a cable. It provided some great views.

The big cats were already starting to hide by the time we got to their area.

Awesome shots. I especially like the close-ups on the birds.

What camera and lenses were you using?

Thanks. These were shot with the D300. I was using the 70-300VR for the bird shots as well as the lion. The others were using the Sigma 10-20.

This is one of my favorite parks (I even like it better than DL, although it will never replace WDW.) I have a day's shoot from here (still waiting to be processed) but find your bird photos to be superb. I'll post mine once they are ready.

Thanks! I look forward to seeing your shots. I got quite a few gorilla shots as well, but I could just never seem to get the right lighting on their faces. I'll try to post a few more when I get time.
