San Diego Traffic/Seaworld Thanksgiving

Hi.

We will be flying into LAX on Thursday, November 27. This is your Thanksgiving day? What will the traffic be like from LAX to San Diego? Our plane lands at 2pm. We aren't in any rush, but would like to avoid crazy traffic like we have seen in the afternoons on this drive. Would we be better to stop at Huntington Beach for awhile and just do the beach and finish the drive after supper? Or will the rush hour traffic be lighter since it's a holiday?

Also, we will be getting the SoCal City Pass, which includes Seaworld. For that weekend, which day would be best for Seaworld - Friday, Saturday or Sunday? We will be driving to DL on Sunday, but had planned for a leisurely drive with a stop at San Clemente. So would prefer to do Seaworld on Friday or Saturday. Which would be best? Does everyone shop on Friday?

These are just my opinions.

Traffic on turkey day should be good. The day before not so much.

Black Friday will be crazy near the malls. Avoid at all costs.

I would suggest Saturday for Sea World. For the same price you get an extra hour and a half. This means some additional show times.

Driving LAX to SD on thanksgiving day during the afternoon should be okay but will be several hours. I would stop at Newport Beach or Laguna Hills to catch the sunset. You can book for Thanksgiving Dinner at somewhere like the Montage Hotel in Laguna and get a great ocean and sunset view. People will shop all thanksgiving weekend. Drive up early on Sunday to DL as traffic heading back to the cities could be heavy.
