Sorry if this has been asked before. I did a search and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I found out last night my DH's conference in San Diego ends on a Friday so we are going to go to Disneyland from there Friday through Monday (Yea!) I am booking my trip through Dreams Unlimited now but I'd like to know what are my options are to get from SD to Disneyland without renting a car.

Also, I am flying SW and was thinking of flying out of SNA. There are only two flights but one seems reasonable and timely but I'd like to know my transportation options from Disneyland to SNA without a car.

TIA!

Amtrak Pacific Surfliner. You could do the Coaster to Metrolink, but the schedule is more limited. Google Maps has a public transportation search option. You could put in your starting point and your DLR area hotel and the time you anticipate leaving to get your options.

Lots of options from DL to SNA - Uber being one of them. Several airport shuttles. Disneyland Resort Express as well.

San Diego to Anaheim - the only options I can think of would be a private car service or Amtrak (Pacific Surfliner). Amtrak has a station in Anaheim about five miles east of Disneyland, near Angels stadium. Not sure how you would get from the train station to the park - I've never used that station and not sure of availability of taxis from there. Maybe take the train to Anaheim then Uber it to the park?

OK, as for San Diego to Disneyland, the easiest way is the AMTRAK Pacific Surfliner train, runs frequently every day. So you catch it at one of a few San Diego Stations, depending on where you are staying, more than likely the Santa Fe Station Downtown or the Old Town Transit Center.

Plenty of discounts can be found...

For the easiest public transit, do not use the Anaheim Station, but go to the Fullerton Station, and then take the OCTA Route 543 that runs up and down Harbor Blvd, and stops right in front of Disneyland.

As for access to John Wayne, the main forms are the Disneyland Express Airport Bus, aTtaxi/Uber/Lyft, or a shared Shuttle Van service.

Cab to Amtrak, Amtrak to Anaheim, cab to Disney. Cab to SNA.

For "cab" read "cab, lyft, or uber"...whatever you feel comfy with.

I agree with everyone who is saying to take the train from San Diego to the Anaheim station, then get a cab or uber to the Disneyland Resort (You might want to also check San Diego to Fullerton. Between the two stations you might have more options.).

We have taken the Amtrak several times. We found it to be the best option, there has been cabs waiting when we arrived and went straight to our hotel. The ride up the coast has fantastic views as well.

That's really cool that the train goes from San Diego to Anaheim! We tossed around the idea of visiting San Diego before or after Disney, nice to know it's possible (and not as pricey as expected).

Lots of great stops on the AMTRAK and Metrolink trains serving the Disneyland area...

Going South to North...

The Santa Fe Station in Downtown San Diego is great for the San Diego Zoo, the USS Midway Museum, the Maritime Museum (Star of India) and more. Also good for a baseball game at PETCO Park.

The Old Town Transit Center for the Old Town State Park, plus easy busy rides to SeaWorld, Mission beach and Pacific Beach, also good for football at Qualcomm Stadium.

Solona Beach for the San Diego County Fair and the Del Mar Racetrack.

Oceanside for the Oceanside Pier and LEGOLAND California. (Use a taxi/Uber/Lyft)

San Clemente for the Pier and the beaches.

San Juan Capristrano for the famous Mission and the Old Downtown area, all with walking distance.

Heading north, using the Fullerton Train Station, which has a nice Train Museum there, you head to Union Station, and then can use the LA Metro Red Line to get to STAPLES Center for Basketball and Hockey, Hollywood (use the Hollywood and Highland stop) and Universal Studios (Universal City) and the Gold Line will take you to Pasadena.

Then keep going north to Ventura, and Santa Barbara.

It is a great from of transportation, relaxful, has some amazing views on parts of the track. The AMTRAK offers free Wi-FI, and a bar car for food and drink.
