San Diego: Public Transportation to the SD Zoo?

Hi! DH & I are planning our first trip to beautiful San Diego and wea re staying at The Dana on Mission Bay, and we're wondering if there is public transportation available to the Zoo and Balboa Park. If there is, great, if not, we'll plan on a taxi. I tried to use the "trip planner" feature on the SD public transit website, but it was no help to me - I think you more or less have to be somewhat familiar with the area in order to best utilize it.

Yes, the buses run right to the zoo. NOt sure of which ones, but it shouldn't be too hard to find out.
