DCL has used the Manchester Grand Hyatt. We have stayed there prior to an EBPC cruise and after one of our WBPC cruises. Typical Grand Hyatt hotel, which we enjoy. There is a shopping and dining area across the street and many restaurants within walking distance at a various price points and offering a variety of cuisines.

If you use the Hilton Brand, the Hotel Carte is right up the street. We rideshared to the port, because it was the only day in a bajillion years that it rained in San Diego. If you're in the neighborhood of the port, the Gaslamp is full of restaurants.

Embassy suites. There are a lot of hotels within walking distance. I always use Rome to Rio for figuring out distances between places.

I can't help with a hotel, but the Seneca Trattoria restaurant is right by the cruise ship docks. We had dinner there this past summer and it was delicious! I would definitely go back if we ever return to San Diego.

We stayed at the Wyndham directly across the street from the port. You can pay to leave your car there during your cruise, if that's a thing for you. You can walk your bags across the street. No problem. The restaurant in the hotel was very good (can't remember the name), but a good Google map search will help locate others if you need them.

The Claim Jumper at the Wyndham isn't bad. It's what they used to be 5+ years ago but OK. Springhill Suites has cruise parking and Best Western up from the Wyndham is a good basic hotel. Doesn't really need to be a DL-oriented one I would think. Oh yeah, Puesto at the Headquarters for tacos.

Maybe I am a bit of a hotel snob, but we did not like the Wyndham that many people recommend. The location is great - we woke up to the Wonder right outside our window. It was very easy to walk across the street in the morning to embark.

But we had two rooms. Both had unidentified stuff on the sheets that had not been cleaned properly. Both were generally dirty. One was an ADA room that our daughters shared that had a door that opened to a courtyard that was accessible to the street, and they had to call me to come down late at night because there was a man outside, intoxicated and yelling obscenities (not the hotel's fault, but the room having a glass door accessible to a major street was not an ideal design). The shower was also not ADA compliant even though it was an ADA room. A giant roach ran into the shower there too. Overall, it was not a great experience. They do offer cruise parking for non-hotel guests, so you could always stay somewhere else and buy their parking. Even without the bad experience in the ADA room, the cleanliness level would have kept us from coming back.

Wyndham San Diego Bayside is a good choice if money isn’t in your search! It’s right in front of the Disney port terminal.

For munchies, I’d go with Miguel’s Cocina for some nice Mexican food!

We have stayed at the Marriott residence inn across the street three times for our Disney cruise. We like the hotel bc the proximity to the port, right across the street. It offers a nice breakfast that is included. Walking distance to a few restaurants. Also there is a park about two blocks away (good for kids).

We park our car not on site, rather at a parking garage that’s about three ish blocks away on India street (I think). It’s super cheap per day, we did a whole week for like $120 or something. Plus it’s covered. It’s a lot that people who work in the area park at, so it can get crowded in the am, but we always arrive later after people leave work.

for our family with two young kids, I will work over and drop our bags with the porters, then come back to the hotel and walk with the kids and wife when it’s our PAT.

Residence inn can be pricey though. Good clean hotel.

I have not stayed there yet but I will be staying at the Springhill Suites next April before our Wonder cruise. I saw too many negative Wyndham reviews that left me wary of staying there. The Springhill Suites are also very close to the port. I've never been to San Diego before but everything downtown looks relatively easy to get to. Depending on the age of your family, most sights are within a 30 min walk. I'm anticipating that Ubers should be a good way to get around also.

DCL doesn't offer any pre or post cruise tours of San Diego that I know about. As stated previously, you best bet will either be Uber, taxi or you can take the trolly to various areas.

If you can the San Diego Zoo to me is a must visit. Also, right next to the Zoo is Balboa Park, where you will find a bunch of Museums and the Ruben H Fleet Science Center that has activities for kids. The model railroad museum is also pretty neat, just expensive.

We are also coming from the east coast, and more than likely rent a car for the few days we are there before the cruise. We plan on staying with my parents (I grew up in the east county area of San Diego). The night before the cruise will stay at the Best Western Yacht Harbor Hotel, since they have a shuttle to the cruise terminal. This way I can spend some time with my parents and save my wife the stress of my dad driving us to the cruise terminal.

You'll need to get to Old Town, but from there, you can take Old Town Trolley Tours. Different versions visit different areas.

You also might enjoy a day at Balboa Park/The San Diego zoo. You could easily spend a full day there and get totally exhausted at the end of the day.

We like the Wyndham. You just walk right across to the terminal! We booked a harbor view and saw her come in the morning we were leaving.

We have stayed at the Springhill Suites across from the pier twice (2021 and 2022) and will stay there again in 2026. It was clean, the rooms were nice, breakfast was good, and you just walk across the street to get to the pier. It can be a little pricey but it's worth it to me. I read too many negative reviews of the Wyndham (cleanliness issues and bugs) to book there.

As I mentioned in another thread, in 2021 DCL was using the Intercontinental, We walked across the street and they delivered the luggage by truck.

I have stayed at The Sofia Hotel. Nice, clean, safe, affordable, and walking distance to the pier.
