San Diego Cruises 2021

Decided to book a room at the Wyndham the night before our cruise. Will be able to walk over to the pier around 11:00. Also, you can reserve long term parking for good rates at the hotel (www.sandiegocruiseshipparking.com). Can't wait!
Looking at that site I put random dates and I get no parking available message for Oct and November.
I wonder if im doing something wrong.

No, they are all sold out. I actually was unable to get a date.

Edit- or just not available...

Oh phew!! Thanks Im getting Orlando requirements mixed up with San Diego. So just to reiterate if
we sail from San Diego and everyone 12 and up are vaccinated we don't have to get a test. But
we are tested at the port?
You don't need to get tested, but you do need to upload your proof of vaccination to the safe passages website. https://dcl.safepassage.com/

As we get close to the first sailing on Oct 1st, I hope there is someone from these boards going, who might share what is similar to how they are doing it here, compared to FL? Like you are tested while waiting in your car and then stay in your car until you get cleared (in FL this is taking about an hour). And if anyone does get their kid under 12 tested the 72 hours before sailing and uploads the negative test 24 hours before sailing, did they find a reliable place for the rapid PCR test? And how their cruise goes, would love to know about the Wonder as she again sails from our shores, movies shown? main show? Mousequarade, and Pirate Night? Hoping there are some local San Diegans being the first back at sea from here :))

I hope we don't have to sit in a car and wait for test results as we are staying at a hotel within walking distance of the port. I have no idea what to do in that case.

I'll try to post our experiences. We are also doing the 3N afterwards so I can post about the B2B experience.

I cannot imagine SD having drive-in testing because of the nature of that port.

So true. I was thinking that they may use one of the adjacent cruise terminal buildings to house the testing. There is a Holland America cruise leaving Oct 1st, too. Could be a bit crowded.

That is why we will so appreciate the heads up, we are on the one on the 8th and asking someone who is nice enough to drop you off, to then sit there an hour and wait till your results come in and you can exit the car, is a big ask. FL has been at this a while and it is still taking an hour. So it would really help to know, super appreciate any heads up you can give us!!!! Ours is also a 3 nt so also not sure if they will do both the pirate night and the Halloween night, I think I read the 3 nights are starting to just do a 2 night Halloween theme and skipping pirates, I won't bring our pirate wear if thats the case but it was always such fun. But only the one person posting said no pirate night so watching to see if anyone else says that was the case. Hoping the first voyage gets a lot of fanfare and celebration- another ship leaving the same day seems it would make it impossible to tie up the parking lot like that. Super thanks in advance for everything you can share.

Shoreside is saying tents and inside the cruise terminal for testing. If there is enough room in the terminal.

Port Canaveral is using tents for people who don't drive themselves (shuttle, car service, Uber, friend/family, etc.). I would assume something similar in San Diego. Or possibly a separate section of the terminal if it's big enough.

We’re driving to the port and parking across the street at Springhill Suites. Can someone tell me if we are to drive to the terminal first to drop off luggage or do we park first? We haven’t departed from San Diego before and are wondering how it works there. Thanks!!!

Technically, I think it's easier to drive into the terminal area, drop off luggage AND people, then go park and walk back. You drive in on Harbor, right into World Pier Circle and it's a simple loop around. People will be waiting to help you take the luggage right out of the car. Then head out. You can only turn right onto Harbor. Left at Broadway then left onto Pacific. Springhill is right there.

Great information! Thank you!

So all the Oct San Diego cruises are non Halloween? For some reason i don't see the halloween icons
next to the dates for the Wonder but I see them for the Oct cruises out of Florida.

Never mind I just refreshed and they were there. Doesn't sound like they are no doing much
right? Just the candy? and even that is for the kiddos lol

RE: Testing at the San Diego Port

Per my contact on the Wonder they are testing in the cruise terminal building and it is taking about an hour.

there was some chat on the boards for the dcl cruises out of FL, and at first the room stewards left a bag of candy in the stateroom for the kids instead of trick or treating. There was some disappointment among the adults who thought Walt always felt adults were kids at heart, so there might be some thinking of including the adults with a bag of candy as part of the Halloween celebration, we'll have to see how the Wonder feels about it. Or maybe at least let the room stewards ask the adult guests if they would like to be included. Its always been fun to trick or treat right along with our grandson at Disneyland so this would be a fun surprise if they included those who wanted it.

Finally got notice that our check-in for our October 1st cruise had been finalized. I had spoken to shoreside earlier and the CM mentioned that they are trying to clear them all in the next few days. So, if you haven't been cleared yet you should be soon. If for some reason you are not cleared just bring your passport and other docs as you did in the past. Note that this is for check-in, NOT safe passages.

Thanks for the update! I sail on the 15th and I check every day to see if I’m cleared…but I know it will likely take a couple more weeks.

Since you are on the 1st real Wonder cruise, it would be great if you could report back with any details! Ship capacity, port testing/boarding, Halloween activities, etc.

Have a great cruise!
