San Diego Beaches

Hi. We are traveling to San Diego in July and wanting to rent a house or condo on a beach. Which beaches should we look for or avoid? We probably will rent a car. We will be going to San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld for sure but want a number of days just to hang out at the beach. We like to swim, build sand castles etc.. and do not want it to be crazy busy. Thanks. It will be my husband, myself, and 3 DDs, ages 13, 11 and 8. Jane

There are lots of condos for rent in the Mission Beach and Mission Bay area. Only thing, July is the busiest time and the most expensive. Most places have to be rented Saturday to Saturday. Mission Bay is quiet and not as crazy as Mission Beach can get, but the beach side has waves and stuff. South Mission is quieter.
