San Diego airport to Hilton Garden Inn Bayside

I'm trying to figure out what's going to be the best way to get my family from the airport to the Hilton Garden Inn. It's maybe a 1 mile walk from the long term parking so the really cheap part of me is considering making everyone walk, but I don't know that my 5 and 7 year old (and my wife lol) will think that's very funny. Uber/Lyft aren't great options due to the kids needing carseats. I've considered a one day car rental through budget or alamo at the airport but I would still need to return the car in the morning and then figure out how to get to the cruise port. I'd have a similar problem with Enterprise even though it's right next to the hotel.

What say you all-knowing Disboard?

Have you considered an inflatable booster seat? My DS will be 5 when we go to San Diego next fall and I had the same concerns about using a shuttle to a hotel. They are safety tested and seem to be a good travel option. He's in a 5 point booster in my car. He is on the higher end of the percentiles (42 lbs and 42 inches tall) so meets the requirement to use one now, but we will wait until he is 5.

I was looking at pricing on those and it's going to end up being as much to buy two of them as it is to rent a car. I played around a bit and I think what I'm going to do is rent a car at the airport with two carseats. Through Costco it ended up being $60 for a one-day rental. That way we can tour around San Diego as well since we're getting in at 1:30 in the afternoon. Then in the morning I'll drop wife and kids off at the cruise port, return the car and use an Uber/Lyft to get back to the port. Now I just need to work out the return trip after the cruise...

That sounds like a good plan. Have you called DCL to see how much transfers will cost one way?
I've thought about that. Our flight after the cruise doesn't leave until 6:30 p.m. (there was a slightly cheaper flight at noon, but that felt like pushing my luck to far) so I think I may do Uber/Lyft back to the airport for another rental car. If we get off the ship bright and early I don't want to be hanging out in the airport with nothing to do for 8 hours. That way we have some freedom and the rental is only $60. DCL airport transfers would probably be at least that much anyway.

get a Taxi / Uber / Lyft and send DW and the luggage to the hotel. You and the kids take a nice little walk along the waterfront.

Or rent from Enterprise instead of Alamo - there's an Enterprise rental car location about 8 blocks from the port - they were willing to take us there when we dropped off our car - we chose to walk back to the Hampton Inn to check out and pick up our luggage and walk to the port. Actually Hilton Bayside is only 2 blocks from your hotel.

Remember: Hampton Inn's are part of Hilton and Alamo (and National) are a part of Enterprise.

Looking at a map, if you choose to walk, catch a ride to the long term parking lot - which will put you closer to your hotel with a shorter walk.
