So my family is visiting California for the first time in August, we will arrive in San Diego on Sat afternoon, with some touring that evening. Sunday we will be going to the San Diego Zoo, and then Monday after checking out, we are heading to Disneyland until the following Saturday. We need any suggestions for a good hotel in San Diego near the zoo, and any good places to eat. We won't have any more time to do Seaworld or safari, but definitely wanted to do the zoo. We have a 10 year old DD, so kid friendly. Thanks for any help. :)

I would look at hotels in the "Hotel Circle" area. It has all sorts of hotels for you to choose from. Some also offer shuttles to the Zoo, the Gaslamp quarter is also a nice area, with lots of restaurants in walking distance. During August, the hours are going to be 9 - 9, and if you want to see the Pandas, I would get there at 8:30 - they open the front area early to shop or get breakfast, and head straight to their exhibit.

Thanks so much, having a hard time finding something in the right area. We want something walkable too. Don't want to be driving all over. I will check it out. :thumbsup2

Walkable might be challenging since I can't think of any quality hotels right now within walking distance, but you can definitely look for hotels in Hotel Circle that offer a free or discounted shuttle to the zoo or at least somewhere within a close cab ride.
