Which restaurant do think would be best paid OOP then DDP? We are using 2 ts for CG so therefore need to pay for one upfront. I haven't been to either place...HELP:confused3

My pick would easily be for San Angel. It is EXCELLENT, great atmosphere and great food. However, it is not for everyone. It's Mexican food but you wont find much in the way of tacos, chimichangas, burritos etc. Thats why it sometimes gets bad reviews. Its a style of food you have to like. I live in the southwest and love good (Real) Mexican food and San Angel is good!

I do not like Mexican food at all...but I would pick San Angel. We have had two absolutely terrible experiences at H&V and would not recommend to anyone.

I would say San Angel. I really liked the food there (even if it was a bit too dark to really see it). I found Hollywood and Vine to be just bland. If it wasn't for the Fantasmic package it wouldn't even be on our to eat list for our next trip.

Hands down ....San Angel Inn!!!! Last time I ate at Hollywood and Vine, the food was so so. It tasted like warmed up buffet food....which it is!!::yes::

San Angel Inn! I have not dined there since 2003, but it was some of the best food I've ever had. And the atmosphere is just sensational, there's nothing like it. Hollywood and Vine is okay food -- the only thing there that stands out as being great was the Prime Rib. The rest was just alright. And the theming isn't that grand either, so I would definitely recommend that good Mexican food!

Thanks all for your recommendations!!!:worship:

I wonder if I should cancel H&V and go for a ts for breakfast somewhere?

Another vote for San Angel Inn. The atmosphere is phenomenal, and I'm one of the ones who really enjoys the food. It's definitely authentic Mexican, so if that's not something you're used to, prepare yourself for some new tastes. It gets a bad rap on these boards because many people think Taco Bell, Chili's, Chipotle, etc. are all dishing up real Mexican food, and they don't get what they expect at San Angel.

Out of these two, I'd probably go with San Angel. But I'd really look harder at other choices because you can do a lot better.

Okay, I've only been to San Angel...but here's my take on it:

If your kids get the chicken finger platter, have them ask for two chicken fingers instead of chicken with the fidieos noodles or whatever they call them. They are angel hair pasta with about 2 tbsp of crushed tomatoes on them...and the water from the noodles runs all over everything else on the plate. One of my kids was in tears over this and they gladly brought him a new plate...2 chicken strips, no nasty pasta water in everything else.

Don't get your hopes up about the chips. They are Tostitos. If you want good chips, go to Whispering Canyon. They have homemade chips served with delicous conqueso (sp?) sauce and a bowl of homemade salsa...all tomato/onion/and spices, no liquid.

The adult meals were good...but HUGE. I had the Ensalada Mexicana...it was easily enough for 2. BTW...the taco bowl was not tasty.

Of the 5 ts meals we had, this one was our least favorite. Don't get me wrong...the food was bad, it just wasn't great, and at those prices I'll hold out for great, lol!

I'd go with San Angel. We are going to be there on June 26.

If I was paying out of pocket, I probably wouldn't chose the buffet either. It may be cheaper to go with the sit down table service restaurant if you aren't getting appies and desserts.
