I've seen the exceptionally mediocre to poor review of San Angel on the wdwinfo site. I was looking for some board feedback. I'm already eating at Le Cellier, Mama Melrose, Cali Grill, and CRT for dinners, and I was looking for a little variety.

I thought the mexican food place would be a good change of pace. Any thoughts? will I regret it?

We love it. The food has been quite good every time we went and the atmosphere can't be beat. Try to get a table by the river if you go.

Living in San Antonio, I've had plenty of Tex-Mex and real Mexican food. I have to say that this restaurant is not very good. I LOVED the atmosphere, but the actual food was something to be desired.

I've only been here twice but I thought the food and service were great both times. The waiters were attentive and we never had to wait long for them to come over. The food was also fresh and served promptly. I have to say that most of the food isn't like the typical Tex-Mex food that you would find in most restaurants.

Living in New Mexico...........well, this is a place that we would NEVER go to. The food is too americanized. We HAVE eaten snacks from the Cantina and rate it about the same quality as Taco Bell.

BUT!!!!!!!!! That being said, I always advise trying someplace for yourself cause only you know what you like and do not like. If it seems to interest you, go for it!

We like San Angel a great deal and go almost every visit to WDW. The "tex-mex" type dishes are not especially good in our opinion, but we DO like the Chef's Specialties dishes which often offer unusual and delicious food combos that we don't see anywhere else. The food is NOT like that at the Cantina, which I too would rate as "glorified Taco Bell."

Try the queso fundido appetizer and the magaritas, too.

As for service, we've sometimes found it slow and the waiters don't chit-chat much, but we've not found service to be a "problem," as some claim.

As others have said, try it for yourself. Only you know what you like. I would recommend going for lunch and trying for the earliest PS you can (11:30?). We seem to get the best service and best views then.

We love San Angel Inn, me hubby and my 20somethings.

We mostly eat there for lunch..we arrive a bit early and ask to wait for a table by the water. The food, service and atmosphere have always been wonderful.

You must keep in mind..this is not taco bell mexican..lol. This is real mexican..a wee bit americanized or people really complain. I can't remember what region in mexico. I say give it a try.

I can tell you..we would eat at San Angel before Le Cellier or
CA Grill if that helps you decide.

We eat there most every trip! They have great margaritas also! We ate there last, at the beginning of the month and food and service were both very good.

We ate there last summer. We had a table by the river and that was very nice. The service was excellent, but definately not "chit-chatty" which was OK with us. All of us enjoyed our meals and felt that we would return.

We always go here as we love the atmosphere, but honestly, I can't say that I am excited about the food. Particularly, the chips and salsa are not great. When we were there in August of 2003, the chips were very thick and had an odd taste. The food in general was good, but not great.

I went with 2 of my best friends to Disney a year ago June. We ate at amazing restaurants like Narcoossees and Fultons, but our favorite was San Angel Inn. All of us have been to Mexico before and eaten food there, and one of my best friends is actually from Chile. I think it's hard for people to tell other people what restaurants have good food, as everyone has different taste, but I think the atmosphere alone is wonderful enough to at least give it a try (btw I highly recommend the nachos....YUM!!)

We ate there on our honeymoon. The food was not good at all. The waiter asked us where we were from, when we said Texas he brought out the chef. The chef apologized profusely and said they had to take the spice out of the food for people not used to spicy foods. They didn't charge us and they were very, very nice about it. I think it depends on what part of the country you are from.

We love San Angel Inn for atleast the atmosphere. the food is as good as anywhere else in WDW. If you watched the "Unwrapped" show with Mark Summers on Food Network last week, they interviewed the world famous chef/owner of the french rest. He said that all the World Showcase Rest. have chefs from that country cooking the authentic dishes of that region. But they have all "Americanized" the dishes so that the food will not be so heavy, rich, or spicy in taste. In another words, We Americans do not know how to eat well. It is true that San Angel is not Tex-Mex but what the more urban Mexico City type upperclass would eat. (without the richness or spicy flavours.)

When I go to the "real mexican places in town" I tell them not to bring me a Gringo menu and take that tomato sauce away and bring me some Salsa Verde. The Hispanic menu dont put ground beef, lettece and cheese on their tacos. They like like cow tounge (its really tender) onion and cilantro and verde on a soft corn shell.

Now THAT is funny!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We've eaten at San Angel Inn numerous times, but this past May the food just wasn't as good. We've never had any problems with quality at the Cantina, though.
