I was wondering about making PS for lunch there on our upcoming trip, but after reading the reader reviews over at all ears - I'm not sure. Have any of you noticed less than stellar service from this restaurant? We don't necessarily have high expectations of above and beyond service (although that is always wonderful ;) ), but I absolutely hate rudeness and would definitely want to avoid that.

Thanks to anyone for their opinions!

Have always loved this place in the 18 years I have been going to WDW. I have never experienced bad service, etc. I have had a bad meal, but that was just to my tastes - I don't care for mole' sauce. One of the best restaurants at WDW, IMHO..

San Angel is one of our favorites and we eat there at least once a trip. If interested in seeing the menu, visit www.wdwinfo.com. Great website with tons of info!!

We had great service back in August. The chips and salsa were good and so were the kids meals. The adult food, however, was pretty bad. I had some pork dish that had large pieces of inedible meat (big pieces of fat that I only 'discovered' when I bit into them). My wife had some tacos that were cold, with rice and beans that were not good.

I doubt that I would eat here again, solely because of the food. It is expensive (but then so are all WDW restaurants).

Ive eaten here three times

once was many years ago and I really enjoyed it

once was about 10 years ago and I HATED my meal

once was last year and I LOVED my meal

I think its hit or miss on the food....never noticed any problems with service...but the environment is great

Food has always been good (I like the mole) but service is consistently so-so.

Had lunch here in September and all was good - food and service. We ate right at noontime, and by the time we left, the place was starting to get busy. So I'd say to make your PS for as early as you can stnd it!

I ate there in October for a late lunch and it was not great. The ambiance was nice, the service was slow, and the food was so-so. I probably will never go there again.

We hit this one almost once a trip. We love the atmosphere but would agree the food is not outstanding. I've never had bad food, just not wild about it. For us, we love to eat lunch there, feeling like we're dining outside in the evening then go back into the FL sunshine, but that's just us!

We go for the atmosphere. Not a must-do, but maybe every other trip or so, just for old time's sake. Service has always been pretty good, and I have always thought the food to be pretty good.

My kids just today said the one restaurant that they have to go back to it was the San Angel. We have always had great service but we speak Spanish- so I think that helps with the interaction. Many of the bus boys and other staff don't speak English very well at all and are intimidated. The waiters on the other hand all speak English. It is a very busy restaurant at night which may affect the service- there are not that many waiters. I say it is worth a try just for the atmoshphere alone. We will definately go back.

I don't really care for San Angel. I have eaten there several times, and I always end up thinking that I like the atmosphere and the service is so-so, but I do NOT like the food. I figure, why spend the money (it's a bit pricey), when the food isn't good? Just go into the temple and look around for the atmosphere and find somewhere with better food to eat at. I prefer Le Cellier and Teppanyaki

I do not mean this as a flame to either side but it seems to me that people how have true Mexican style dining experiences are the ones to not like the food. I'm in PA, I don't have authentic Mexican dining choices so to me the food is pretty good! :)

As for the atmosphere, LOVE it! I've never been to Disney during Peak, mostly off peak or during slower times. So I've had wonderful experiences at San Angel.

Once my waiter was "extra" friendly and sort of freaked me out a bit but I have never had bad service there.

Give it a try, hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised!

I have eaten there many times since the place opened, and the trend has slowly been going down hill. We still stop by when we have friends along who have never eaten there. It's still worth it in my mind for first timers to at least experience the place.

I've been twice and enjoyed it both times. Picky eaters in my party did not particularly like it but it's more of a traditional Mexican Menu not your average soft tacos and enchilada. The atmosphere is by far one of the best in all of WDW. It's dimly lit with candles on the tables and overlooks el Rio De Tempo boat ride with an erupting volcano in the background :)

I thought I posted this already but for some reason it's not here. Maybe I didn't push the button. Who knows?
Anyway, this is one of our Must Do places while at WDW. We love the atmosphere and have had great success with the food. The last time we went (this past Dec.) we even went in just to look around and ride the boat (I was freezing).
We ate there for our package for the CP. We enjoyed both of our meals very much! I was a little disappointed we did not get to chose our desert for the package. And the service was not that great. And it does get a little crowded. But, we love it! And we have had authentic Mexican food in the past. The chips did not seem quite as good this time though for some reason. Hope this helps! Wish we were going!

Probably the worst service we have ever had on property-- and the food wasn't good either.

We've always had great service at San Angel. Haven't had much luck with the entrees, so we each have appetizers instead. Love the Queso Fundido & the nachos. DW enjoys the margaritas & I really like the cinnamon-flavored coffee I've had there. Great atmosphere.

We have eaten lunch here twice and enjoyed it. The service and food were both good. Not our absolute favorite, but we will certainly go back.

It has been years since I have eaten there, but the 2 or 3 times I tried it I thought it was good. The atmosphere is terrific, maybe that's why I didn't notice the quality of food or service. Mexican food is so popular in the U.S., it doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to turn out some good menu items :earsboy:
