We have a lunch ADR at San Angel Inn when we go to WDW in July. Although I've read some negative reviews, a few of my friends have been there and they know my taste and think I would love it. DH also wants to try it, and I have been curious about it for a while.

So, what do you suggest for lunch there? We have a 12PM lunch ADR there, and then our dinner ADR at Le Cellier is at 5:30PM. I spread it out so we have a few hours before dinner once we leave San Angel. I have no problem eating an appetizer as my lunch either. We won't be on a dining plan but will have the TIW card so we can order anything we want. Thanks!

We have always enjoyed San Angel Inn and have never had a bad experience there. My DH was really bummed when it was being renovated on our last trip and we couldn't eat there! I always have the sopa azteca and I don't think I've had another appetizer since the menu changed a while back...and it might have changed since the refurb, I'm not sure. So that's where my appetizer experience ends. :)

We loved San Angel Inn. Don't worry about negative reviews, you will find good and bad about every restaurant on WDW property!

If you like the looks of the menu then do it! Don't worry as I said.

The atmosphere is the best and the food is very good.

We love san Angel as well. If we are dining for lunch I always get the sopa azteca which is wonderful and the tostados de tinga which is actually an appetizer. But it was by far enough food for me. In fact I have trouble eating it all!

We thought San Angel was just okay. Atmosphere was amazing. We had empanadas (I don't think they have them anymore), which were delicious, but our entress were just okay. We probably wouldn't go back since there are so many other better restaurants for us, but it was still a nice experience.

We really enjoyed it! The atmosphere alone is worth the ADR. Request a table near the water...

For any restaurant you will see good and bad reviews. Food quality is so subjective it is impossible to know that your criteria and someone else's is even the same. Also, any restaurant can have an off night or a bad dish.

I have eaten there once and had a good experience. I love the atmosphere and the food was not spectacular but good.

I would keep the ADR and decide for yourself.

What entrees have you had there?

I have wondered about the tostadas! I can be very satisfied with a small lunch so those may be fine for me, and then I can pop into the bakery in Norway for some school bread for dessert! ;)

Oh, we had no intention of canceling this ADR. I like to judge restaurants for myself, and you are right about anything having both good and bad reviews. If you search enough, you will find a negative comment on just about anything. As I had said, a few friends of mine who know my taste in food (and who have good taste themselves) recommended San Angel to me. They did rave about the atmosphere and they really enjoyed the food as well. Just wanted to get people's opinions here, if there are any specific foods there that I should try not to miss!

Tight seating but marvellous atmosphere. Good food, not outstanding. A little overpriced even for Disney, for what you get. Not pop Mexican but not top notch dining, either. Definitely worth the visit, especially for lunch out of the heat of the day.

Tight seating doesn't bother us. We've eaten in plenty of NYC restaurants where you feel like you are sharing your table with the party next to you! I guess we're just used to it. I'm not expecting 5-star dining (I never would in any theme park), but I am really looking forward to the atmosphere!!! And yes, it will be a wonderful break from the heat and park touring!

We love San Angel Inn-the atmosphere is wonderful.

I had the Enchiladas Verdes de Pollo for my entree and the Capirotada de Chocolate Blanco for dessert. The kids had the quesedillas. There were no complaints at our table over the food!!!!

Enjoy:thumbsup2

San Angle we consider our kick off the week restaurant. Went there 4 years in a row as our 1st ADR of the week and this October we have an ADR and also the first of the week. Never a complaint.

We have had one lunch at San Angel and enjoyed it very much. Tried to get in a last minute for next week but it was booked. :(

Not Tex-Mex, so not crazy spicy, not Americanized to the same extend. Is it 100% authentic Mexican? Not quite. But it is much closer than what most Americans get and that's why I think it gets negative reviews from so many - they expect what they know, except the don't know Mexican, they know "Mexican".

The atmosphere is among the best anywhere. Hard to beat. You can't eat atmosphere, but at San Angel, it is close.

Love San Angel Inn! I always get the Puntas de Filete en salsa guajillo. Fantastic! My son tried my steak last time and exclaimed OMG! That is the best steak I have ever had. I agree.
I also love the White chocolate mousse in the shell with fresh berries dessert. Delicious!

We prefer lunch at San Angel Inn over dinner because I like the menu better!

I ALWAYS get .. Asado con Chilaquiles - Grilled sirloin steak, with Chilaquiles (layers of fried corn tortilla, green tomatillo sauce, topped with fresh cheese, onions, sour cream) and served with Mexican rice and beans. - $17.95

Both of these entrees sound wonderful, but I know I won't be ordering a steak entree there, because we have a dinner ADR for Le Cellier the same day! We have lunch at San Angel at Noon, and dinner at Le Cellier at 5:30 (we kept to my kids' usual lunch and dinner times for our ADRs...this prevented meltdowns on the last trip...they're only 3 and 5 now so they are still at that age where they are used to their routine!). So, I was thinking more of something with chicken, or fish or a vegetarian entree. Also, nothing too heavy...I do prefer eating a lighter meal at lunch time, especially knowing I am going to a steakhouse for dinner the same day!

The enchiladas verde de pollo sound really good, but I can probably have that tostada appetizer along with some guacamole and a margarita and that would be enough for me for lunch! And very satisfying...those tostadas sound very good!! :)

That dessert is the bomb! Unbelievably delicious!

We had dinner, not lunch, and my son ordered a crispy shrimp dish that was to-die-for! It has a delicious coating and was served over something they called a "potato relish" that tasted similar to good hash browns in a Jersey diner.

Between the shrimp entree and that white chocolate dish, we thought San Angel Inn was very good.

That shrimp dish sounds excellent, but I'm not sure if they serve it at lunch. Sounds delicious though!

The shrimp dish does sound wonderful! We are dining at San Angel for dinner in August - maybe I'll try it!

I would vote for San Angel and the Enchiladas as well. My family doesn't like mexican food so when we go there, I eat alone. I go every trip and since it's just me and it's for lunch I pay cash and not use TS credit. ENJOY!
