It seems nobody hardly mentions San Angel Inn. We're to arrive at Disneyworld around 4:00pm, August 22nd. We only booked this trip a couple of weeks ago so our first choices were already full.

Garden Grill was booked (again) so we thought some Mexican that evening would be nice. So once we get checked in, we'll cruise over to DTD for something particular we're looking for and then head to Epcot for late hours, including 7:45 reservations at San Angel Inn.

Oddly, the only thing I've seen mentioning this restaurant is the "Worst Restaurants" thread. Not a good sign. :lmao:

I agree with the PP... The food in not fabulous. But I don't think it is horrible either. I had the Mahi-Mahi a la Veracruzana and I thought it was very good.... BUT the atmosphere is so fabulous....add a Frozen Margarita with whatever you are having and it is all good. ;)

The food is authentic Mexican, not tex-mex or americanized, which is what most people are expecting. (and thus leads to their disappointment) Still, average-ish food but amazing atmosphere!

We try to go every year. While the food is not amazing, it's not awful either. We find it average but the atmosphere more than makes up for it.

I have to agree with everyone else. I think the food is okay, but the atmosphere is great. It's relaxing and different. I try to get something different whenever we go. I have never been disappointed with what I have chosen, but I'm certainly not one to eat mexican food often anyway.

I'm going in Sept with my mom and 2 really picky kids. My kids hate any pasta and anything "strange" and lets face it, the kids menus at most places isn't all that great. I scheduled a few character meals and several of the themed places (sci-fi, 50's prime time etc) for the kids. I wanted our first night meal to be something nice for me and my mom as she hasn't been to WDW in 30 years, but having something on the menu the kids would eat. I looked at all the restraunts in Epcot and narrowed it down to Le Cellier because my kids like steak and San Angel because they like Mexican. Of course I had no clue Le Cellier was so hard to get so I booked San Angel. Reading a lot of the bad reviews here made me try to switch my ressie to Coral Reef, figuring the kids would at least like the atmosphere there. Well I couldn't get in there either. Recently I finally got a dinner at Le Cellier and well, I kept my San Angel ressie too. I decided not to let other folks opinions of their dinner there sway me and I'll keep my dinner there and I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I can't really believe half the things I read about the bad meals at any of the WDW restraunts. I'm not shy...if my food is improperly prepaired I won't hesitate to send it back whether I'm at WDW or McDonalds. If I don't like it, that's on me...I figure a couple of Dos Equis and everything will taste better. I think the place looks amazing and honestly I've had everything from good authentic Mexican (cooked by Mexican friends) to Tex-Mex to Taco Bell and I like any of it. I'm looking forward to spending our first night at Disney there for dinner and am told that right around the corner is an excellent place for Illuminations. We have 7:30 ADR's so we should finnish up just in time for them.

regards

We always go to San Angel Inn! We love the atmosphere and margaritas! The food isn't the best mexican I've ever had, but I've never had any complaints either. It's super pretty and relaxing. I think, with dining reviews especially, you should try it for yourself. I've seen so many conflicting reviews that it is impossible to get an idea of whether or not you might enjoy it.

LOVE San Angel Inn!! we are going back in a few weeks, great chips and salsa and the margaritas are awesome, we ordered the Chicken Mole or whatever its called LOL:thumbsup2

Love it! I'll be there in a few days. Food is good, atomosphere is even better!

LoVE IT!!!!!! Did not go there on our last and missed it so it will be a definite when we go in Jan. It is my DD favorite and she is a fussy eater. The tenderloin with cheese is to die for as is the Mole Pablano and the atmosphere and Margaritas are top notch. It is so cool and relaxing in there too that you don't know you are in a theme park.

We are going to try lunch there in Oct, it is on DH's must try list so I cannot cancel it

I hope it is pretty good!

I have hear some great reviews and some mixed reviews. I don't like Americanized mexican, so I think we'll like it. We are staying for 10 days in January, so we finally we feel like we have time to try it! We have lunch reservations and are super excited. Even if it isn't fantastic, the beverages will be delightful and we can say we've tried it.

Enjoy!

We are going there in September with our very picky DD4. Do they have an alternate kids menu, like Ohana does? Looking at the menu on line she won't eat anything there. Also what entrees would any of you recommend.

Thanks!

The atmosphere is worth giving it a try. I loved the atmosphere at this restaurant the food was not that good.

I really only like it for the margaritas and the atmosphere - it's soooo romantic. I REALLY wouldn't say it's 'authentic' Mexican. But then, I'm just really picky because I've gone to Mexico several times when I lived in Texas. Compared to what I've had, I think the food at San Angel's is a *little* bland, but it's not awful.

We loved it there! We all thought the food was great, and of course like everyone has said the atmosphere can't be beat!:thumbsup2

I think a lot of the bad reviews come from people expecting Tex-Mex style food, and that's not what you get at all. Even the Mexican border towns (at least here in Texas) tend to serve more Tex-Mex food

Has anyone seen an updated menu? allears has one from 2006 and that one sounds pretty good to me. TIA:)
