Does anyone have any good reviews for San Angel? We decided to go for dinner on our trip in May. We are on the dining plan. I was excited to try it but I'm now reading some pretty scathing reviews. Has anyone had a good experience there? Thanks!

Nope, nothing good to report here-- except that the atmosphere is nice. The food is sub-par and the service is virtually non existent!! One of the very worst on property IMO.

We ate there Easter week 2005. The food is nothing special, about the same as you'd get at your local decent Mexican restaurant, but there's wasn't anything wrong with it, either. We just loved the setting! It's so pretty. After a long day of walking around Epcot, it was lovely to sit in the cool, dark of the restaurant and have a drink and nice dinner. The service was good, too. Our ds was 10 and he loved the food and the surroundings. So, I'd recommend it, but don't expect to have the best Mexican food you've ever eaten!

Well, we ate there in August '05 and loved it. We hadn't been in a while because DH isn't a Mexican food nut and it had gotten many bad reviews, but we were with another couple and they really love it there. I had a filet served over refried beans and cheese with pepper and onion strips -- the meat was so tender I didn't need a knife and the accompaniments were very tasty! DH had shrimp over angel hair with tomatoes and mexican spices -- not something I'd think of as a Mexican dish, but it was fantastic.

San Angel Inn is what made me decide to stop paying so much attention to reviews and just eat where we want to try. We love so many of the places that get a bad wrap here.

My daughter and her boyfriend ate there, and they loved it. So of course she is wanting to go back there this trip. I'm not crazy about Mexican food, but loved the atmosphere, so hubby and I are willing to try it.
Go and decide for yourself, everyone has an opinion. :thumbsup2

It's one of my fav restaurants. We have had many enjoyable experiences there. As I wrote in another post earlier, we love shopping around the little village, taking the boat ride, and then enjoying dinner under the volcano while you watch the boats ride by. The food has been good everytime we have eaten there, and I don't even really like mexican food. The drinks are superb. The service has always been great. Overall it's been one of my best experiences in Disney Dining.

we had dinner in nov 05-we thought it was quite good-the atmosphere alone is worth giving it a shot-our service was also very good and the place was packed! :wizard:

We love it there. The atmosphere is great. We usually wait for a water table. And the drinks are wonderful! Going to eat there on our next trip!

We ate there on our first and only trip to the World in 1997. We liked it just fine.

We go to WDW at least twice a year and we go to the San Angel Inn almost every visit.

Why?

Well, we love the atmosphere and contrary to what some others have written we've found the service adequate and the food nicely done.

I've eaten mexican food all over and I love it, but honestly even at some of the best rated places I find it to be average compared to other types of food. But that's ok, I still love it.

San Angel was great. The atmosphere is truly special, you really do feel like you are dining under the stars. The food we all found to be good-the queso fundido was great ,the beef tenderloin was excellent and the kids all enjoyed their food. Service was good, very friendly and just sitting back and hearing the birds singing and the volcano rumbling once in a while in the distant made it well worth it. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

One of the best Settings on property and a great place to go cool off if it is hot... Food is OK (but I am not a big fan of
Mexican food though) but I have had better... Not like going to Alfredos and getting the best Tiramasu I have ever had and one of the top 3 Fettuccini Alfredo's I have had or going to Nine Dragons and getting the best Sweet and Sour Chicken I have had. I haven't been for about 4 years so I am not sure... the service was fine when I went then, but I have seen things go from Good to bad at Disney in the course of 6 months.. so it could be bad now.

We've ate there several times, the last was Feb '05. We love the atmosphere and the margaritas! They don't have the typical mexican restaurant food i.e. Chi Chi's, Don Pablos, etc. , and I think that turns people off a bit. We always enjoy our meal. We are branching out in May and trying a new TS for us- LeCellier. Have fun and enjoy a margarita!!

We loved it and the vegetarian combo plate was delicious! It was fun to watch the people on the boat ride slide through.

We like San Angel--and I'm pretty particular about my Mexican food. The location is beautiful and the margaritas are great. My only complaint is that the tables are just WAY too close together. I felt like we were practically sitting on our neighbors laps.

We also love this place. The atmosphere is wonderful, the food is good and the drinks are very good. We've always had very attentive service, too, but that can vary alot anywhere.

If you like Mexican food and a great atmosphere, give it a try!

We like it there --
Usually go for lunch
Probably been there 5 times in 5 years.

My husband usually orders the combination
DS (7) loves the quesadillas.

The Margaritas are really yummy.

Never had a bad meal there.

We ate there in December and it was really good. I had some kind of combination thing and DH had something he really liked, but I can't remember what it was. My kids enjoyed it too. Before we checked in at the restaurant we shopped and did the boat ride, it was a great night! Also, our service was very good.

We ate there for lunch in September and really liked it. Love love love the atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was good, too. Different than the Mexican chain restaurants, so if that's what you're looking for you'll be disappointed, but we really liked it. I'd definitely go there again. Kids (7 &8) liked it too.
