What is the difference between these two other than location?? Is La Hacienda where the Cantina was? Is the Cantina still there? Which of the two do you recommend or should we just go for the Cantina if it is still there? Thanks!

A newly designed La Cantina de San Angel will continue to serve counter service meals and a new La Hacienda will offer table service dinners starting each evening at 4pm.

The entrance to La Cantina is located near the bridge that brings guests into the Mexico Pavilion. Just inside are five windows where you can place your order. Although the menu is new, it still offers some of your favorites like Tacos de Carne, Nachos, and Empanadas de Queso.

Our family had a late lunch at San Angel in June and we were all thoroughly happy with our meals.

My husband and I had dinner at La Hacienda in October and loved it as well. We will definitely be returning next October.

My suggestion would be to look at both menus and see which appeals to you most. Of course, if you prefer lunch--San Angel serves lunch and La Hacienda does not.

Oops! I forgot to ask if La Hacienda has any outdoor dining or if only the Cantina does! Thanks again!

The food is coming from the same kitchen so it should be equally as good. I think it comes down to if you want ts or cs.

True, but a totally different menu and the margaritas at La Hacienda are on the rocks, specialty margaritas rather than the frozen at the Cantina. We had some items from the Cantina and it was tasty as well.

Personally, I'm looking forward to lunch at the new Cantina. I miss it. I looked at the menu for Hacienda and actually, didn't find much to like. But that is my personal taste. It looks lovely and I wish I found something I'd like so we could eat there. I also LOVE the Fiesta frozen margarita that you can get at the Cantina. during the Cantina's renovation, they had a margarita booth set up near the pyramid. I'm not sure if that will stay or not.

We ate at La Hacienda last month and loved it. I was really surprised how good it was. We have eaten at San Angel many times and just always found it so-so.

We ate at San Angel in Oct. and it was one of our best meals of the whole trip, I was very surprised because we have avoided it because of the negative feedback but our food was very good. I had Fish Tacos, my DH had the Mahi Mahi. We had the White Chocolate pudding with fresh fruit for desert(excellent). We also had good service. San Angel was even better than Jikos (a 2 credit) restaurant (it was our least favorite meal of the week). We haven't tried the new Mexican restaurant but the menu looks good and hopefully we will try it next trip.

We did not care for our lunch at San Angel in October. Everyone in the family rated it as our least favorite of all the CS and TS we ate that trip, which was 11 days long. Menu is limited for non-adventurous eaters. I was surprised that we couldn't get a plain old-fashioned taco for my picky son, who ended up having the tortilla soup OOP because he couldn't find anything else he wanted.
Unfortunately, we changed our reservation the day before from Teppan Edo to San Angel because it was DD14's birthday and she liked the "look" of the restaurant.
