Hey guys! I have a few questions about the restaurant sitch inside Mexico.

1) How early can you check into your ADR? If possible, I was thinking of checking in 15-30min before our res. so as to have time to go on the ride before we get taken in to our table. Is that feasible?

2) I would GUESS the answer is no (:confused3), but just in case - could you get a margarita from La Cava and take it on the Gran Tour ride with you?

3) Is there any problem with getting drinks at La Cava and bringing them down to your table at San Angel? There are a couple of margarita flavors on the La Cava menu that aren't listed on San Angel's menu (specifically the drunk little cucumber) that I'd like to try, but I would prefer to drink it along with my meal instead of downing it beforehand.

TIA!

No, on checking in and then getting on the ride.
If you check in at, say 20 minutes (the general "earliest" time you can check in for an ADR, anywhere) that means you are going to be there, ready to be seated, starting then. Mexico, in general, is never that busy or crowded - just go on the ride before you check in, because you won't wait very long for either, anyway.

No, on taking your margarita on the boat with you.
Food and drink in general is not allowed on any attraction/ride (bottled water, etc notwithstanding). And I'm sure alcoholic beverages are particularly monitored.

As for the third question, I suspect that you shouldn't have any problem taking a margarita from La Cava into the restaurant. I can only think of one potential situation where you wouldn't be allowed to do so (involving service licenses on the two separate venues), but I cannot imagine that they are operating under the specific scenario which would make it a no-go. I'm sure you'll be fine taking your cucumber margarita in to dinner with you.

Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to know. I was pretty sure about the no food/drink thing, but it's been some years and I couldn't remember for certain.

You can also order anything on the La Cava menu while seated at San Angel Inn and they will bring it to you.

At all the Disney restaurants it is recommended that you check in 10-15 minutes before your reservation time. However, CMs at the podium will not check in your party until everyone is there and once checked in your whole group will have to wait there.

And no food or beverages except something like water in a screw top bottle on any ride.

I agree with all of the above, but offer these simply because I think we somehow managed the exact thing you are asking about.

We checked in at SAI and asked for a waterside table. They told us it would be 15 min so I asked if we could ride the boat and they said yes. Our buzzer went off pretty much 2 min into the ride. We returned and were seated no problem. - Usually though, I am seated with a 5 min wait at SAI. It does get busy, but they are very specific with ADR's and have turned down walk ins before, so there won't be overbooking. Basically, it would not save any time so you are better off just doing the boat ride and then checking in.

I went with my extended family, 8 people. About half of these people walked onto the boat ride with their drinks. They were not hiding them, they simply had not been to Disney in 25 years and weren't thinking about it when they did it. I of course was mortified when I realized. CM's were unphased. This is not something I recommend. lol. The boat ride isn't long so I wouldn't bother with it. But if you really really wanted to take one with you, you could probably pour it into a cup with a lid - a resort mug for example. But, you can just order from la cava once you sit down so really no need for this. I will also add that the resort mug makes carrying beverages through a busy world showcase much easier. No beer on your sandals if someone runs into you!

you can take a beverage on a ride if it is inside a sealed bottle or something with a sealed top like a resort mug, but you aren't supposed to take an open cup or paper cup with lid. I hear Mexico is not big on enforcement though.

OMG to go on the ride with margarita in hand would be bliss : )

a while back they use to let you go on the rides with drinks, however in recent years I've noticed that they have become more strict about no drinks on the boat ride.

Woah, this is great! I probably won't press my luck, but this sounds like it worked out well for y'all and was pretty fun :)
