Just wanted to say that we had my dd's birthday lunch at San Angel Inn last Friday and it was delicious! We checked in and was given a beeper. We headed over to the boat and took a quick ride..just as we were getting off our beeper went off - perfect timing! Our waitress was lovely,we had a table near the water, our lunches were delish (spicier than last time we were there ), and the dessert to die for. We haven't eaten there in years due to the bad reviews, but my dd was insistent on eating there. Maybe the lunch menu is better than dinner? I don't know, but we enjoyed it and will be going back again.

Thank you for the report, my son & I are trying it for the first time in December. I don't usually like really dark restaurants, but we always like to try a few new places other than our "must dos".

If you get a chance, the Restaurant Marrakesh is also FABULOUS & is always on our must do list!!! The fish/veggies plate is awesome !!!! It is called....

Mogador Fish Tagine - marinated fish with olives, lemon confit, potatoes, green peppers, and shermula sauce $27.95

Good to hear.

I know they have been trying to improve things for the last year.
They got a warning from Disney last fall to fix things.

I hear they have a new chef now and with the new competition outside the pavilion they probably need to step it up.
I have head they are using fresh chips and salsa now, so that is a big step in the right direction.

Now if only they gave free chips and salsa in La Cava.

We also have an ADR there for December, so I am very happy to hear this. I knew when I made the ADR that I was taking a BIG chance with the less than mediocre reviews.

I'll be crossing my fingers and toes that the good San Angel Inn reviews and pixie dust continues. :wizard:

This is good to hear. :thumbsup2

We just had dinner there the last week of August. Everything was excellent. The atmosphere, the service and the food.:goodvibes I had the Tacos de Ribeye - Grilled ribeye served over flour tortillas topped with a red bell pepper sauce granished with scallions and avocado. It was fantastic. DH had a steak dish that isn't listed on the current menu and loved it. We shared the Capirotada de Chocolate Blanco - white chocolate golden raisin bread pudding served with Mexican milk caramel. It was heavenly. The kids had Cheese Quesadilla and loved them. They also enjoyed their desserts ( vanilla ice cream with churros on the side). :lovestruc

I had the Tacos de Ribeye too - DELISH and just enough for lunch since we gorged ourselves on the awesome FRESH tortilla chips and salsa  My dd had the Pollo A Las Rajas - grilled chicken breast served over red peppers, onion strips, cream sauce, and fresh cheese - it also came with some confetti rice - she loved it and from the bite I took I did too. For dessert we split the Moras con Cajeta - Vanilla mousse with mixed seasonal berries and milk caramel - OMG - so light and refreshing. I think it was a special b/c the menu said choc. mousse, but they offered it to us in vanilla It was just enough to split - came in a v-shaped glass - we scraped it clean  Two desserts would have been too much. I also used the TIW card since we were on the QSDP,so we had a nice discount. We can't wait to go back. I guess they did up their game there and it shows! Also, I didn't think the tables were too close together. It was like any other restaurant there.

We ate dinner there last September and our group of 4 LOVED it!! Our meals were delicious!!

Can't wait to eat there next Oct when we go back!

Perhaps the new Mexican restaurant outside the pyramid forces San Angel Inn to finally improve? Not many World Showcase pavilions offer two table service locations, and I argue that Mexico doesn't really need another option. I hope the competition inspires San Angel to stop slacking and provide the Mexican fare guests clearly want.

The mole poblano is fantastic.

I'm always surprised at the bad reviews San Angel Inn sometimes gets here. I've never had a bad meal there, and the atmosphere is just fantastic.

Hi LOVETHATMOUSE,
Thanks for sharing and that is good news. :thumbsup2 I always like to hear positive restaurant reviews. I have always enjoyed San Angel Inn and the atmosphere. Glad to hear you will be going back again. Thanks again for sharing. :goodvibes

This is fantastic news! We used to LOVE San Angel Inn but over the past 5 or 6 years we've stopped going as it went down hill. Definitely going to try again. Thanks for the report!

Great to hear! We have been for lunch twice and it was excellent both times...never been to dinner but the menu doesnt appeal to us so we just stick to lunch

San Angel Inn is a "must do" for me and my family. I love the atmosphere. I can't wait to try the ribeye tacos! Thanks for the "thumbs up" review! great to hear!

I doubt it's a competition thing. The two restaurants are run by the same company.

Great to hear a good review. We are going to Epcot this weekend and have lunch reservations there. We have always wanted to eat there just for the scenery.

One question, do you get "free" chips and salsa with the meal? And are they unlimited?

We got unlimited "free" chips and salsa with our meal in August. :)

I'm a guest... and they already provide the Mexican fare I clearly want.
