Any ideas for a cheep lunch? We've never eaten there so were not sure what would be big enough to split, if thats allowed. Here's the menu: http://allearsnet.com/menu/men_mexl.htm
Give me your ideas. I was thinking of the Queso Fundido (for two) and two bowls of tortilla soup and water with lemon to drink, that would be about $21 including tax & tip. If any one has eaten there let me know if this would be a good lunch.

Only you will be able to answer how much you eat
they do give you a considerable amont of food
but I donot think that an appetizer and the soup will jold you over for a long time.
They have outdoor food service as well. it is a lot less money and the food is very similiar in taste and nature as what is inside. you willl probably do better as you will not be paying for the wait staff and atmosphere.
good luck :cool1:

The San Angel Inn is one of my favorite WDW restaurants. I think it is the absolute best Disney restaurant atmosphere. Sitting at your table and looking up at the night sky and the Mexican village is simply stunning. And the little market is cool too.

Oh, and El Rio del Tiempo will have you laughing so hard you can't breathe! It is possibly Epcot's most in need of renovation attraction. It is so bad you'll laugh.

The Queso Fundido was a neat thing to try, but not much to eat. It's melted cheese with some chorizo. Very flavorful, but not much for 9.25! JMTCW! We split this and an entree and were satisified. Remember, you'll have chips to eat too.

The Queso is very yummy, and you get a ton of tortilla chips. I don't know if I'd get that for lunch and call it a day. It's basically melted cheese with green pepers and crumbled chorizo. I haven't had the tortilla soup so I'm not sure how filling that is. It really depends on how big your appetite is. I would probably split some queso and an entre.

The pp's suggestion of trying out the Cantina is a good one, but you then miss out on the atmosphere of San Angel.

A cheap lunch would be from a counter service restaurant. If you want to experience the atmosphere of this restaurant, go there for a snack (chips and cheese) or dessert only.

We're planning on getting the MYW dining plan, by SAI is not on the plan. We really want to try out the Inn for the atmosphere or else we would go to the cantina. Would anyone recomend any of the lunch entres to share?

It's our families favorite restaurant.
My teenagers get Pollo a las Rajas. (Chicken with chorizo, peppers and cheese)
DH always likes the seveche (cold seafood salad) for an appetizer.
It can get expensive though!! Those must have 'ritas sure 'am good!! :teeth:
And the kids get nada 'Ritas, so the bill climbs pretty quickly.
But worth it. We have a blast when we go.

Yummy We love that heart stopping queso fundido! But in looking at the menu what about the nachos for lunch with the soup instead...a little more going on and just $2 more

The nachos are a good sized portion and pretty hearty. I had them for lunch on our last trip. It was just me eating them and I didn't finsh them but I did eat about 2/3 of it. I think if I had a bowl of soup too that I'd have been fine with soup and half the nachos. :) They were very good too by the way!

Nachos de Pollo is my favorite entree at San Angel Inn, we eat here on every vacation and I always order it. It is so good, that I crave the nachos when I'm at home. And the portion is HUGE!! I can't even eat half of it, sometimes you can't even tell that any of it has been eaten and I'm completely stuffed. DH usually "helps" me eat it too, and we've never come close to finishing the entree. I definitely recommend this as a meal to share.

we did not like the food at all. IMHO It just was not flavorful enough for us. We like spicier foods I guess. It was bland and tasted like the Chi-Chi's mexican restaurant chain. Actually Chi Chi's is better. The setting is nice and it is romantical and the portions are huge but blah, no flavor. We won't go back.

I don't like San Angel Inn's food either after eating there twice. If you are craving Mexican, go for the Cantina outside. There are also lots of other counter service restaurants in World Showcase that have good food. I like the one in Morroco.

There was a thread about the worst counter service in WDW and I think the most people said, the Cantina, so I don't think that I'll go there.
