I'm finally getting around to changing my phone and dragging myself into the 21st century! I have looked into it before but now I really need to get one.
I am not that keen on all the big new phones :rotfl2:
but i do like the Samsung galaxy mini and the HTC wildfire s
all I need it for is mainly texting and calling, I'm not into facebook twitter etc
Those in the know what one would be the best one to get please??!!!

We all have the Wildfire, I have nothing to compare to as these are the 1st smart phones we have had, all 3 of us love them, both myself and Karen were never interested in Facebook on a phone or app's etc, we both really carried a phone for emergencies now we use them for loads of stuff.
People that use them for games etc complain the screen is not good enough on the Wildfire, last thing I would do is play a game on a phone.

Definitely HTC rather than Samsung. Sorry about the bias - I have had nothing but problems with Samsung and if this is your first smartphone they are not exactly idiot-proof :headache: in one way or another.

I am one for reading countless reviews before making a decision. I suspect that HTC will still win over Samsung if you opt to do a bit of research.

A very biased piece of advice here, but in my eyes there is no contest between the two

Great thanks for the advice, I was leaning towards the HTC only because I can get it in purple!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

My DD had HTC Desire and have several problems they replaced her fone 3 times and they all developed the same problem, she has now got the Samsung Galaxy S 2 which she says is great.

There are going to be the odd problems with any type of phone you get, here and there. I have learnt that it may look good to be the first one to get a brand new model, but you become the guinea pig who ends up reporting all the teething problems while they iron out the initial creases. If it's been out at least 6 months, there should be enough reviews to give you a fair idea. Just thought I would add one more consideration.

But most imoportantly: you can get it in purple :cool1: (yep, I am another one who lurves that colour :)) - I would consider it a done deal ;)

Iv just upgraded charlottes contract( yes a nearly 9 year old) and she had the htc chacha which is great but im not very technical and find it quite complex. For ease i like the samsung but i think htc is the better phone. Im just iphone biast. Lovvvvve my iphone as so easy to use. Good luck jeanette

My first choice would be samsung Galaxy S2 but if you just need it for texting and calling it probably has more than you need on it. I have heard the wildfire is a good entry level phone.

I have the HTC desire (unlocked on T Mobile) and love it!

Have not had any technical problems with it at all.

Battery life can suffer if you use the wifi or mobile internet alot, but I think that's the case with any smart phone :)

Another HTC desire user here - and happy with it! Looked at the wildfire but was able to get a good deal on the desire and went for the slightly better phone.

I've got an HTC Desire and Dad bought himself a Wildfire a few months ago. It's his first smartphone but he's had no problems at all getting used to it.

i just bought myseld a smart phone...my 1st last month after nearly a year of looking...lol only had a normal phone before, had the same one for 5 years prior to this!....i got the Samsung galaxy Ace ...And im pleased with t so far, still dont use it too much but can do the things i want to easily and its n ot too complicated ...which is what put me off getting a new one for ages....but mind u i still only use it ocasionally and probably dont take advantage of everything it does as much as others would.....

well I finally ordered a HTC DESIRE S!!!! should be here tomorrow, fingers crossed oh and its in red!!!
thanks for all your advice! I will probably be back asking more questions about apps and what they are :rotfl2:
