Don't you just love when you first notice/experience something on an attraction you've ridden many times before?

I had one of those experiences recently. I've lost track of how many times I've ridden Tower of Terror, but last week I experienced something new. ToT veterans know the Twilight Zone theme is played alongside a short video on a screen near/at the end of the ride in the drop shaft. Something different happened this time. Just in case...

A different video was shown instead of the usual one showing the black and white hypnotic pinwheel thingy. After a few up/downs (the normal amount) the ride vehicle stopped in front of the screen. This time the video showed the five guests from 1939 waving you towards them and then disappearing with a strike of lightning. If I remember correctly, it was similar to what you see ascending the first shaft but not exactly the same. This preceded one final rapid ascent/descent through the full length of the shaft. It then ended with the usual video. It was like getting a bonus drop.

I'm not sure if this is new or has been part of the randomized sequences since they were introduced and I, out of pure bad luck, had never experienced it until now despite numerous rides. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed that little surprise. :D

What used to be my most feared ride (I prefer to have an x component to my thrill rides :)), has quickly become one of my favorites. Has anyone else had a similarly experienced something new on an old attraction?

The description of the scene in your spoiler I've seen a number of times.

Yes, the randomization can affect what you see, even after many trips.

ToT is definitely one of the top WDW attractions in my book!

ToT is my favourite ride - I have seen your spoiler scene only a couple of times and usually get the hypnotic wheel. It's nice when we notice/experience new-to-us things when we've been numerous times - keeps the magic alive!!! (Heck, it took me a few trips before I FINALLY saw the Yeti!!!)

I can't believe I didn't see it until last week with as many times as I've been on it. My wife and I often ride separately (we have a 2 YO and use rider switch) and she has never experienced it.

I loved it though; it was a very nice surprise! It didn't see the Yeti the first time either, haha.

Yeah, I've had that happen. Until you mentioned that it was different, I didn't even realize it was different. How sad is that? I am that clueless
Or rather, I retain so little from each ride, the next one is like I'm riding it brand new each time. I guess that's a good thing.
