Same Resort, Different UY

For a while now, we have been thinking we may want to add on at HHI. The problem is we want a different UY. We have two 50-point contracts right now with a June UY. We have even thought about selling and purchasing a larger contract via resale with an April UY. For what we want to do we would probably need to purchase 160-180 points. I just noticed an 80-point contract with an April UY on the market. It’s tempting me to think we could just purchase this and avoid the whole selling and rebuying. How crazy would this be to keep up with? Here’s what we would like to do:

Year 1: use 116 points for a 7-night stay just the two of us in April/May (use 80 current from April UY, borrow 36)
Bank 2 50-point contracts with June UY.

Year 2: use 295 points for a 5-night stay in a GV with the whole family either the first week of June or October (use 100 banked and 100 current and borrow 95 from June UY)
Bank remaining 44 points with April UY.

Year 3: use 116 points for a 7-night stay just the two of us (use 44 banked and 67 current from the April UY and transfer in the 5 remaining from the June UY, bank the remaining 13 from the April UY)

Rinse and repeat.

Some questions I have:
1. Can I choose which contracts are used each time? For example, can I borrow points before using current points. Is this super risky? Would I be better off transferring every year and using all current points first?
2. Is saving the trouble of selling and rebuying worth the extra complication of having two different UYs at the same resort?
3. As the cycle continues, what to do with the remaining points from the April UY? Eventually those remaining points will add up and throw off the pattern. Unless point charts change and eat them up anyway.

Before anyone says not to worry about UY, too late. I do. As I’ve said on other threads, my DH has some medical issues that can cause a last-minute cancellation each year. We really want an April UY for our April/May trips.

Any other considerations I haven’t thought of?

TIA!

Different UY are different memberships so you either book a trip on one or the other. Or, book some nights on one, or some on the other,

If you have an April UY and a June UY, then you can borrow in one without touching the other because you are pretty much two different owners.

Yes, you can transfer but it doesn’t change when points can be used. Also, transferred points can not be borrowed, only banked,

I bought a second UY because of traveling at a time when my June UY was not a good one,

I would not worry, especially now that transferred points, if you did move them, can be used online,

I pretty much use each for different trips. On occasion, I book some nights on one and some on the other and then have them linked so we don’t have to change rooms.

You have to book one night with one UY, one night with another. In the system, you do this with a dropdown. Within each dropdown, you can combine those same UY points together loosely, like you have pitched.

Think of them like different people booking. You can definitely do this, but it requires more planning. You can also transfer between UYs, but only once, so think it through.

The borrowing transfer stuff is where it gets really messy, ouch. didn't even think of that. You could buy one time use points, and you can actually buy them with both UYs. Some consider this an advantage.

I’m not sure how and April and June UY would really be a benefit. Wouldn’t it be easier to manage one UY ??
So I would use the April UY points for the April/May trip. Then I would use the June UY points for the June or October trip. The only reason I thought about keeping the June UY is so I don’t have to sell and rebuy 100 points with an April UY. But an advantage I’m seeing with those points also having an April UY is being able to walk an early June reservation for a GV. So it might be worth selling and rebuying. So it might be worth it for that plus to be able to manage one UY.

We consider OCT our UY but added on two JUN contracts this summer as we were unable to find what we wanted. I have two more OCT contracts currently in ROFR.

So far, it hasn't been a big deal. Our son and DIL decided they wanted a November trip so I used up the 2019 JUN BRV points and dipped into 2020 (only 11 points) for four nights at BWV. I then added two more nights from my 2020 OCT OKW points. I plan to link the two reservations.

I will be reserving our Halloween 2021 trip next month at 11 months for five nights (two villas) at BRV and then nine nights at OKW (two villas for part of the time). The BRV contracts were bought for use 99% of the time at BRV. OKW is for 11 months and SAP.

Personally, I'd keep what you have and buy what you want. You'll have to pay commission to sell and capital gains if you make a profit and then pay closing costs for the new contract. That's close to 2K not counting taxes (if applicable). IMO you can always sell off the JUN UY's if it proves to be a pain!

I have four contract all with the same UY. When I look at the resales I always look for the same UY which can definately limit availbility. I think for me it would be diffecult to keep the two different UYs straight in my mind. It's confussing enough as is without adding another level of confussion to the mix...JMHO.
