We have April use year at BWV and are thinking of buying a resale, but wondering if we should wait until one comes up with the number of points we want AND April use year. How much of a hassle is it keeping track of 2 use years, even at the same resort? (I don't even want to think about trying to keep things straight with points at 2 or more resorts!!). As long as the points will be available at the time we want to book, I assume it doesn't really matter about the use year? I know there's an impact on when to bank. Are there other things to consider as we make this decision? TIA!

We have two contracts at OKW. One is 270 for April and the other is 232 for August. We have a pending contract for December BW at over 300 points. They are truly separate contracts but MS has been great about working with us to make sure all went well. They will bend the transfer rules when truly needed. It has not been an issue, as long as you can balance a checkbook and credit card statement, you should be fine.

Dean said these awful words, "As long as you can balance a checkbook and credit card statement, you should be fine." I am incapable of doing either. However, we have two use years at BWV and actually find it easier to keep track of than the check book. Mainly the issues you face are:

1. Keeping track of, and thus keeping track of different banking dates for, the two use years.

2. When you go to reserve you will generally use one contract for some nights and the other for other nights and then link the two. Easily done. However, you often have the odd night out where neither contract in and of itself has enough points left to reserve it but combined they do. What you do is transfer from one contract to another and reserve that night, also easy to do and generally they won't apply the rule allowing only one transfer per year to this type of move because you are not transfering to a different member.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Then it's not your abilities but your interest, or lack of, that's the problem. DVC is a lot more fun than balancing the checkbook.
