We're just starting to fine tune our end of April trip. I made PS for HDDR for us and 4 teenage boys, and V&A for DW and I. We don't like being tied down to a whole lot of ressies, who knows what day everyone will feel like doing anything, ya know? DW and I will hopefully be chilling at the resorts more and will probably be getting ditched by the boys. Do any of you make your PS on the same day? What's your experience with this? Have not done HDDR in at least 10 years, not been to V&A ever, looking forward to both. Would like to consider the Castle, LTT, some of the resorts, DTD,,,just can't focus on it too much ahead. Do you think we're nuts or do you do the same? :flower:

We had mixed success. Times almost never when we wanted them - but we could eat at 9:00pm or at 5:00. And occationally no luck at all if we wanted a specific place (Teppenyaki, Sci Fi). Other people have great luck.

I make Priority Seatings for the same day all the time during our trip. Sometimes a hour or two before. I have been pretty lucky with most. If you want to do the castle or a character meal you will probably want to make them as soon as possible. The more popular restaurants are usually the hardest to get on the same day.

I made a last minute PS one night to get into either Citrico's, California Grill, or Shulas and I could not get anything. So I made one for the Concourse Steakhouse on the monorail to the Contemporary at 8:00pm.

After being told there was no room at the California Grill I went to the CG check-in and asked for a table. We got a table faster at the CG then waiting for our PS at the Concourse Steakhouse. So you really never know what can happen.

If you are flexible it will usually work out.

Sure, we do that on day trips, alot. Just go to Guest Relations and as long as you aren't picky about times or places, you should be able to get something. In fact, we have found some of the best restaurants by doing this!

I've had mixed success, but mostly. This past October I got an evening 7 pm PS for Le Cellier at 4 pm that afternoon. Another time, we tried to get into Teppanyaki on a very slow December evening and had zero success.

Same day PS's are definitely possible as long as you are flexible so just call as soon as you know you want to eat there!

Depends on when you are traveling. If it is during a peak time - book now and cancel later. If it is during a slower time don't worry about booking until you are there.
We are heading down next week and I have about 4 PS's already lined up (including HDD) for our trip of 8 nights. I figure the rest we will either walk up or try to call while there.

I've had mixed success. I've had to be on hold allot longer than I wanted to be while on vacation and I don't want to waste cell phone minutes holding to get a PS.

I've made same day reservations the last three times we were there and didn't have any problems. We got every place we wanted and within a half an hour of the time we asked for. We are early evening eaters (before 5:30) so that may help. We were there on Mother's Day weekend 2004, Vetran's Day week 2004, New Year's week 2005. I did make a couple PSs for CRT, Boma's and CG.

:wave2:

We've had success with this method but it has alway been during slow season and there were only two of us.

If there are places that you would definitely like to eat I would make a PS. You could always call to cancel or change it.

This is how we happened upon 'Ohana. I called Disney Dining at 5pm from our hotel room on 12/30/04 and basically said that I'd take any non-park restaurant that had seating for 6 before 8:30. They had 'Ohana at 6:50 and we jumped on it. It was fabulous and even though we weren't right against the "end" windows, we had a great view of Wishes just as we were finishing our pineapple and coffee. We will DEFINATELY be making PSes for 'Ohana for our next trip because we don't want to take a chance on missing it but don't hesitate to try for a same day PS for anywhere. You may be very pleasently surprised as we were. Have a fantastic time!

We usually go in August, and while we're standing in line for the first ride, I'll call and make our p.s., usually with no problem. We are only two people, and don't mind eating early supper, though. Wouldn't do it if you have your heart set on something, but otherwise works well! I have never had luck with walkups, though...
