Hubby and I went to Sam’s Club tonight. Dd wanted some fresh strawberries. The organic 2 lbs were $17 and some change! 😱 The regular were $7 and some change 😱 Prices are getting pretty crazy!

Ive been watching some YouTube videos that have been saying prices are going to get crazy and more shortages. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

that seems cheap to me too...3.50/lb - that's about what they cost here

I buy strawberries at Shoprite when on sale at $2.50 or $2.99 - pound/smaller package. A few days before Thanksgiving, the same package was $6.99 - crazy outrageous. A 3 pk (skinny/hardly any leafs) of romaine lettuce - normally $2.49 or $2.99 was $6.99. 1 Cauliflower was $4.99. I passed. No little kids here who need/love strawberries. I did think of my grandsons who love them.

We ran to Walmart Saturday in NJ - we don't have one here - I hardly ever go to NJ - not worth the gas, bridge, tolls most of the times - $6.84 for the 2 lb. package of strawberries and romaine lettuce $2.49. I called my sons right away and bought strawberries for one - my other son's in-law was at Costco and he thought she was picking them up. This DIL later regretted me not getting them for her since her mom did not find any. Other prices were same price as Shoprite's sale - but it was their regular price (eggplant, grapes, etc.).

Prices for everything is crazy. Luckily we eat almost all vegetables so I can buy what is on sale or still reasonable. Unless I really need it for a recipe (which I don't/no need) - I will pass and refuse to pay some of these prices.

Strawberries will just start to come into season by the end of December in FL through March and get shipped out, but off season they are always expensive. I can see the fields from my house and they are starting to grow.. :)

strawberries are not in season. That doesnt' seem bad to me at all price wise. you really shouldn't be watching those you tube videos _ those folks are a little unhinged and are just trying to get folks worked up to increase their following.
Ive never seen prices this high for strawberries and I’m 50 years old.

some video actually have good info and some are just 🙄.

The regular seems in line and even a touch cheap for off season (which it should at Sams)...

The organic seems like the wild price, but it may be they just had so few, they figured they'd charge what they could get for them for the week...

My locals stores haven't had any strawberries for a few weeks now.

My Costco had them the week before Thanksgiving and they were the best I'd seen all year. Previous to that week, late October to early November, nothing.

Then last week got a 2 pound pack at Kroger on Hilton Head Island for $6.99 and they were excellent. Blueberries were good also at $2.50 for a 12 ounce package.

What I can't stand are the half red berries.

That seems cheap for off season for the regular strawberries!
