Salvaging Points

This is a first for me, I used my points to book a Disney Cruise now it looks like I will have to cancel my reservation. I will get back all my points but what would be the best way to utilize my points since I won't be able to bank them or use for a DVC resorts. Can this points be rented out? Any suggestions? TIA

Your options will be to use them yourself or make a reservation for someone else - since they cannot be banked. In addition, they cannot be used for any of the DVC options (DVC resorts or World Passport Collection).

They can be used for any of the Disney Collection resorts, Adventure Collection, or Concierge Collection.

You can certainly rent them to others, but be sure to make that clear in your rental offer or you will get lots of requests for DVC resorts (and may still even if you make that clear in advance). Expect to commend a lower rental rate on these points since many will look at them as "distressed points" - especially since they (or you) will also have a $95 fee when even making the reservation ... and I would ask for that before making the reservation.

Frankly, I'd use them for the Disney Collection.

Stayed at the CBR once on pts and it was the first time in a 'preferred' view - didn't have a choice but loved the view. If the Number of pts being salvaged is higher than I'd grab - with both hands - the Yacht club

Do you have to pay the $95 twice - once for DCL and again for Collection?

If renting then maybe make the Collection a preference for better availability???
