Salute Tickets Former Spouse

I know if you get the tickets BY MAIL from Shades they are already activated and she would not need to be there. Not sure if you buy them in person if they are already activated.

If you buy military SALUTE tickets from anywhere other than Shades by mail, you MUST go to guest services and show your ID to activate the tickets. You can link them to your MDE to do FP+, but you can't enter the park until they are activated.

Thank you all for all of your help. I really do appreciate it. I was definitely caught off guard by all of this. I will call shades of green in the morning and ask about my grandmother ordering tickets. Again, thank you all!

Trying to figure out some other options for tickets. My grandmother is an unremarried widow of a retiree. I know that if you buy Salute tickets at the base, they have to be activated before they are used. If she purchases 2019 Salute to the military tickets at shades of green on November 17, would she have to be at the park when the tickets are used in January? I know the tickets are activated at shades of green. Can they not be used until January?

You can't use 2019 tickets BEFORE January 1, so yes, you could use them in January.

If you order tickets from Shades of Green, mailing them the order form and the copy of your military ID, are the tickets already activated? Or do you have to activate them still?

If you go to Shades of Green and buy tickets in person, can you activate them right away and then not use them for 2 months?

Yes, the tickets shipped FedEx from SoG are actual, activated tickets. I haven't bought tickets in person at SoG, but my understanding is that they are activated tickets.

The only sticking point is that your grandmother is the eligible person, she is supposed to purchase and use one of the tickets for herself. That is in the terms and conditions of the military promotional offer. The only exception is if the eligible person has an annual pass, and in that chase, he or she can only purchase 5.

You can email the order form and a picture of the ID. They send activated ready to go tickets.

Haven't we established the fact that your mother is no longer eligible? SOG staff have told you this yet there is still a question??

I'm a bit confused as well since the Military tips site lists...

Spouses in place of the member (not Civil Service or Contractor). Note the Disney Armed Forces Salute benefit is for the member only. While spouses may use their member's benefit, they are not entitled to a benefit of their own. They only use the discounts in place of the member. Non-spouse dependents (kids) are not eligible.

Unremarried Widows are entitled to their departed spouse’s discounts (not Civil Service or Contractor).

I didn't see anything about divorced unremarried spouses being entitled.

ETA: I did see another page that list former spouses and I wonder if that is an older rule. Disney has changed some discounts starting this year.

I know this post is old, but this is our first year ordering advanced tickets from SOG. Can we use our bank's debit/credit card or does it have to be an actual credit card(one with a limit based off your credit score).

Yes, you can use your bank card as long as it has Visa, Master Card, etc on it. I used my NFCU bank card several times to pay for tickets. When you fill out the form you give them the last 4 and the exp date, then they will call you to verify the purchase and you give them the rest of the numbers. A few minutes after the phone call you will receive an email scan of the tickets. Its always been an easy process for me.

One note, you only receive the email scan of the tickets if you are staying at SoG. If you are staying at a Disney resort or elsewhere, you can still order tickets from SoG, but instead of them emailing you a scan of the tickets, they ship you the actual tickets, via FedEx.
