Salute tickets 2023 who needs to be present

Then he should qualify to purchase Salute tickets. It's a maximum of 6 per year (so if he bought some earlier in the year that counts towards the max), and I think they are only available as 4-day tickets (maybe? check that). If you need longer tickets or have a larger party you can buy MYW tickets that are slightly discounted.
This year you can get 4 or 5 day tickets. I 'think' but am not positive that if you have more than 6 immediate family members, you can purchase additional salute tickets.

My husband served 31 years in the military then retired.

He is eligible for both Salute tickets and the discounted resort rooms. As his spouse, YOU are also eligible to buy tickets (without him) and book a discounted room (even if he doesn't come with you).

Your Retired Military ID card serves as your proof of eligibility.

Who told you you were not eligible? That person is wrong.

Disney has also extended this offer to NON RETIRED veterans who are ALSO 100% disabled per VA's definition.

I use this discount all the time as a military spouse. I am taking my sons without my husband to WDW next week and have a room booked at the Beach Club with the military discount.

That is true. You can buy as many as the number of "direct dependents" that you have registered with DoD.

Does your military member fit the "eligibility requirements" as listed? Just a clarification... "retiree" is a very specific designation, someone who made a career of serving in the military (maybe 30+ years) and formally retires. It is not the same as a "veteran" who served for a period of time and was honorably discharged. If your military person is a veteran but not retired from the military, they are not eligible for Salute tickets unless they are disabled.

Military Retirement is 20 years of continuous active duty service.

However, there is also a category for medical retirees. Those "retire" with sometimes less than 20 years, but are classified as retired also, immediately upon separation. Then there is Reserve Retired, which is also 20 years, but they are not considered retired until age 60.

As long as a person has a military ID card marked RETIRED, with MWR access, they are eligible for this offer.
