Salt dough ornaments?

I tried to make salt dough ornaments today with the boys, but after we were done mixing it, it looked like little teeny balls of flour

I added a little bit more water, and started loking more like dough; we were able to roll and cut them out, but I'm not sure if they'll turn out ok?

Could I have messed the recipe up or something? I'm not good in the kitchen, but it seemed easy enough. The recipe was:

4 cups flour (I thought the recipe I got from someone at work was only 2 cups?)
1 cup salt
1-1/2 cups water

Of course, I forgot the recipe at work and used this one that I found online.

I guess I'll find out when they're done baking, but has anyone had success making these things?
