Salon price for updo?

Has anyone ever just had their hair "done" for formal night? How much was it? I've seen the prices for wash, cut & dry but couldn't find style only. Thanks so much for all your great tips.....I think we are almost ready for our June 29th Magic cruise!

I can't remember exactly what they charged, but it wasn't cheap! I have long hair, and went to have it french braided on formal night...something I do frequently at home.

IMHO, my girl didn't do very well...she had to restart it two times and still it wasn't very good. I expected a bit more experience with something this simple. It was coming out by the end of the night....usually a french braid lasts two days for me.

Bottom line. It wasn't worth trying to complain and get my money back, but it is not something I'd do again.

Psilikops has the Spa listing that gives the prices for hairdos, maybe no price breaks for showing up clean and dry? Anyone?

I had an upstyle done for formal night and I believe the price was $27.00 (which I thought was very reasonable). I have med. length hair. It took her about 30 minutes. They have a European style and an American style. The hairdresser had to explain the difference to me. She added some diamond pins and they were $15.00. I also added a tip to that. I loved it and would defin. do it again.

From what I could tell, the European is sleeker and the American is sort of a more tousled (sp?) look.

She told me I could wash my hair the morning of but not right before my styling. The clips hold better if your hair is not squeaky clean. If you have any fancy clips you might want to take your own.

Thanks 4myguys ! I wondered how much it would cost to get my hair french braided. I think I will try it and hope I don't get the same person Fawn did.
BTW the "Bump" is to get the thread to the first page of the Forum so that it will more likely be seen and therefore posted on.
I've seen people do this when they really want an answer to a question. It keeps the thread alive longer.

Sure wish I would have had this done on our Western cruise...I had it done on Voyager of the Seas (don't remember the cost) because we wanted to have a formal picture taken. We weren't planning to do that on the Magic, so I didn't make an appointment. Wouldn't you know it, we won the photo raffle and the prize was two formal portraits! I didn't bring a curling iron either, so there I am in the photos with my hair pretty much flat and straight.

I also "bump" to get onto a thread. My profile sends me e-mails when the thread has been updated.

I usually do Disboards at night and convey news and updates to DH. Often, thread replies take place after I have shut down my laptop. When I get to work the next morning, I have e-mail notices about thread updates and check them out to start my day off right.
