Hi everyone. I have been going to a nail salon for a while that I love. Great ladies who all live in the neighborhood. It’s like going to visit with your girlfriends for an hour.:dance3: One of the ladies also does hair. She colored my hair before I went on vacation and did a great job and has done it twice since. The last time I told her that I needed a hair cut. I wasn’t really ready to cut my hair length wise and asked for some layers to see if that would help. The layers didn’t come out so well, not blended, just not a good cut.:upsidedow

I went this weekend to another place to get my hair cut. Salon in the next town over. They did a great job on my hair cut and the color even looks better. I mean I liked the color before I went but with the new hair style I have now really accentuates the color and gives it a nice dimension. :thumbsup2

So here is my dilemma, which I’m sure most have figured out already. How do I handle it when I go back to get my nails done and I would love to get a color touch up before vacation too. She did a nice job on my color but just not on the cut and I would really hate to lose them as not only a nice place to go but as friends.

I appreciate any advice at all! TIA!
:thanks:

If you plan on going back to her for color I would BE HONEST. Hairdressers are adults and can take it. My hairdresser is very good but she is probably a stronger colorist than anything else.

I have a usual salon that I go to for cuts, waxing, ect. One day I decided to go to one I used to go to as a kid that is in the same town I go to school in for a color.

Well, long story short they botched it terribly and I had to go get it fixed. I wasn't about to go back to the one that messed it up in the first place, so I went to my old faithful salon so they could fix it. I admit, I felt kind of bad admitting that I went somewhere else, but they did a great job fixing it.

Hairstylists have strenghts and weaknesses. In larger salons, you can divide the people up and have them do just color all day, or cuts, or waxing, but in smaller ones you might have to know how to do all three. As a result, they are proficient in all areas, just not as "fine tuned" as they could be.

Maybe give her another chance...see if it comes out better. If it doesn't, and you feel you must say something, be honest and tell her that while you love her coloring skills and will continue to return to the salon, you have found somewhere else for cuts.
