Sales Tax On Tickets At TDS

When buying tickets at a local Disney Store,do you pay the local sales tax rate or the 6.5% Florida rate?Thanks.

Florida rate. But I think it's more than what you posted. You can check out the Disney website & see what the prices are. They'll tell you it doesn't include the Florida tax rate - which I think is somewhere around 11, but that might be just for hotels. If you buy from some ticket brokers (Undercover, etc.) their prices include tax.

Florida Sales Tax is 6.5%. Hotels charge at a higher rate, depending on county. It's somewhere in the neighborhood of 11-13%. But tickets are 6.5%.

The basic Sales Tax rate in Florida is 6.0% and is on most goods and services. The counties have an option, by vote of their residents, to add a surtax of 0.5%, 1.0% or 1.5% to the state rate.

Orange County, which is most of WDW has a surtax of 0.5%, so purchases (including meals) are taxed at 6.5%.

Osceola County, which has the All-Stars Resorts and Wide World of Sports in it, has a 1.0% surtax so purchases at those locations are subject to a 7.0% tax.

In addition, counties are allowed to have a tax on transient lodging. In both Orange and Osceola Counties it is 6.0%, so all lodging except the All Stars is 12.5% while the All Stars, in Osceola County, is 13.0%.

But the answer to the original question is that no matter where the ticket is sold the Sales Tax charged will be the 6.5% rate. (This does not apply to tickets purchaed on a military installation or at Shades of Green, but you must have positive ID to be allowed to use those locations.)

I know it's just the Florida tax that is charged at the Disney Store. The prices that are printed in the flyers do not include tax. Many people don't understand that they are being charged FL tax and not PA tax but personally, I'd be happy just to be getting the tickets so I could go to WDW!
