Does anyone remember in front of the Meadows yrs and yrs ago they had clothes and various items displayed out front? They had great sales I loved that, wonder why they stopped.

the peacocks used to shoplift. They couldn't adequately provide security.

ok....this comes from a busdriver at the fort...so take it s you will......the peacocks were removed because they were nesting in the trees and their droppings were more than staff could keep up with(peacocks apparently have very large movements)...they are still all alive and well....and living on the disney farm......has anyone heard of a disney farm?hmmmmm....does mickey cultivate there? On a different note, I saw a bus with "A Walk In The Park" on its front and side electric sign thingy....anyone know what that is?

I heard that the otters were more of a problem than the peacocks. They are much faster and more cunning than those thieving peacocks. I blame them.:lmao:

I remember (and miss) those front porch sales. The last time I saw them might have been our 2000 trip. I bought a Barbie, Ken, and kids Disney vacation at WDW set. We don't usually buy Barbie dolls, but put a camcorder in one of her hands and a Mickey balloon in one of the kids', mark it down to $6 and we're in business. That's just one of the great deals I got from there.

Ya I miss it too we would buy tons of stuff and still have some in your pocket when you left.

Disney does a couple of things with items that do not sell for MSRP:

1) Offers to a Disney Outlet Store (which are independently owned)

2) Churns larger items to other Disney parks (i.e. Euro Disney, Tokyo Disney)

3) (And this is the most likely) Sends them to "Property Control" and sells them to the Disney Cast Members at a deep discount price. They also sell furniture from re-decorated rooms, golf carts, store displays, lost & found items, you name it, they sell it at Property Control. I worked for Disney in 2003 & got in on some truly remarkable sales at "PC".

For those of you visiting WDW this Christmas season, you'll see tents set up in the parking lots at Epcot & Port Orleans Resort. These are two additional sales areas for PC. The main one is behind the MK.

The days of sales apparently are over. Once in awhile you'll see tee shirts on sale, but that's about it anymore.

A lot of campers leave things that are cheap to purchase but a pain to pack & take with you such as.... cheap tents, ground cover carpets, cheap screen rooms and the list goes on. If they are servicable, they go to PC to be sold. Disney never misses an opportunity to make a buck!!

They also lot sell their items to ebay sellers like mousesurplus and surpluskingdom. They actually had a monorail with trailer on ebay last year. Oooh, if I had 41K to spare....my son would be in heaven and never want to leave our backyard...;)

Many years ago I got a Dopey coffee mug for a buck at the Settlement porch sale.

There are a lot of items on sale in the stores on property, but for the most part they aren't advertised. You have to look at the price and find the red price tags. We usually get some stuff deeply discounted that way. I got Mickey the Wonder Beagle some gourmet Mickey treats at the Settlement for $1.99.
