Salem's Lot - Anyone read it?

I won't repeat what other posters have already explained about Father Callahan, just wanted to say that this is one of my favorite books ever. So scary! To me, Salem's Lot and The Shining are two of the scariest books ever. Good stuff!

My dad read Salem's Lot when i was a kid. In the morning, we found him asleep on the living room couch holding our large family crucifix.

Still haven't let him live that one down.

My fav that scared the crap out of me -- The Stand -- specifically the part where he describes walking through the Lincoln Tunnel in the dark. Guess it really hit home because I commute to NYC through the Holland Tunnel and I couldn't imagine having to get out and walk in the dark, let alone under the circumstances referenced in the book.

One of my absolute favorite books by him, especially the uncut/extended edition.
