Hi ALl,
We are UK based DVC owners and for a number of reasons have resigned ourselves to the fact that we are going to have to sell our DVC ownership.

We have struggled with the poor exchange rate and are slightly behind on payments. We are also expecting our 2nd child in the next couple of weeks and dont think that a Studio will be adequate for a family of 4 in the future. It is unlikely that we would be able to add on enough points to have a 1 or 2 bedroom for our needs and so with all these issues combined, the better option for us is to sell.

Does anyone have any advice on what top expect regarding this process? Do we have to go to Disney first with our intentions or can we use a third-party as often recommended on here?

I am not sure what to expect with this process so any info is very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.
Best regards to you all.
Russ

You can't post your contract specifics on the DIS so expect you post to be edited by a Mod.

A DVC reseller is the way to go, but you will be losing money on the deal so be prepared. Their going commission rate is 10%.

Disney has reduced their sales price at SSR and many members are selling due to financial hardships so the prices are currently depressed.

Good luck, and I hope that everything works out for you. :goodvibes

You may also want to contact Disney because you mention being behind on your payments. They will be able to tell you what your obligations will be regarding those missed payments prior to selling.

I have used the board sponsor, The Timeshare Store, for selling and buying. They were great. They would also be able to give you a lot of information.

The drawback right now is that there are a lot of SSR contracts for sale so you may be in for a long wait. And as the PP said, the price per point is lower for those contracts.

Good luck and congratulations on your new little one.

The Timeshare Store (sponsor of this board) has been great to work with for us - we have bought and sold through them multiple times.

Good luck. I hope your situation improves. Times are tough for a lot of families here in the states, too.

Call The Timeshare Store. We have had nothing but great experiences with them when we sold contracts. Good luck to you!

Kevin

If you are able to stay on top of it and aren't offering at a price that will get a lot of very quick interest, I would highly recommend listing with multiple brokers.

As the Timeshare Store is a sponsor of this site, was/is running a 10% commission special, and happens to be the broker who ended up getting my contract sold; I would start with them. But consider listing with other agents to cover your bases. Just have all the numbers/emails at the ready, so you can unlist if you agree to terms!

I sold a contract using the Time Share Store. They were easy to work with and we got what we were asking for.

I am thinking of selling *** points from my ***. How long will it typically take to sell this amount through the TimeShare Store? Should I use the *** points now since my UY is Feb or should I bank the points so to attract a buyer sooner with *** points by Feb?

The above post was edited to remove point numbers and resort specifics. We encourage general questions about selling and renting, but anything actually listing a number of points or a resort is not allowed, as it can be interpreted as an offer to sell. Thanks.

To answer your question about whether to use the points or bank them, generally contracts that have all of the current UY points and next UY points available, even if the current points are banked, do bring a slightly higher sale price. Since you have until September to bank, I'd wait until then to bank the points, as a buyer may want the current points for a vacation prior to the start of your next use year.

It depends on your price. If Disney is offering deals at a better price, you might have trouble selling.
