Good morning Jamborinis!! :goodvibes

We are booked in a standard room at AKL Jambo house. The description that we were provided with states one queen bed and a pull out bed. I read somewhere else that all rooms now have two queen beds. can someone verify this for us? We actually rented points from an ebay seller....who has since dissapeared. I still have my reservation but we were told to make back up plans just in case. Here is my other question. If I do online check in will it send a notice to the owner of the DVC that we did the online check in? If it does we are going to wait and not check in ahead of time. So far all of his buyers have been lucky except for one who had his trip cancelled. He also paid by check. We disputed and have a temporary credit. I've contacted the seller so many times confirm and add the dining plan. He won't return calls.

The seller you were dealing with is infamous on these boards. He had a great reputation and then, poof, seems to have disappeared without a trace. :confused3

Your reservation is for a studio in AK Villas-Jambo House. The regular resort rooms (AKL) have 2 queen beds (or 1 queen and bunk beds; or 1 king).

It is quite possible he would get the confirmation if you do online check-in, however it appears he is no where near his email account these days. At this point, I think you need to trust your instincts and if you feel you shouldn't do online check-in, then don't.

This is what my dorm was like! It was a smaller college though, most of the people were commuters, I believe.

25,000 at her college, but many do commute. Heck, we used to live 7 miles from the campus so if we still lived in Marietta, DD would be commuting too!! ;)

Yep, I have no problem reaching deeper into my pocket (although I will grumble about it)...DH, on the other hand...:sad2:

Disney must feel there are many like you and me who WILL reach deeper.........

(and obviously, they're right!!)

If you rented points, you're in an AKV Jambo house Studio. I'm pretty sure (about 90%) that "standard view", for DVC at Jambo house, means pool view...so that's something.

The studios, I believe, have one queen bed and one pull out sofa. They're not "standard hotel rooms" but a DVC villa (which means you'll also have a small area with a sink, microwave, and mini-fridge).

Pictures of the room can be found here:

Not sure about the online check in. I'd say there's a good chance it will. Also, keep in mind, you have to do online check in via the DVC site...NOT the standard online check in through the the hotel site.

 An email confirm will be sent to the email linked to that DVC member. I never found an advantage to online checkin vs checking in when we are there.

When we rented points from a friend (before we were members) I used this link to check my reservation https://secure.reservations.disney.go.com/ibcwdw/en_US/_framework/components/processEngine?process=false&pageRender=true

Wow! And I only lived 20 or so minutes away, but it wasn't terribly expensive (k, it was pricey, but comparing with other colleges, not so much) and I had a housing scholarship-- so I stayed on campus.

Good morning.

I didn't go through all 115 pages. I went through several at the beginning and quite a few at the end, so I apologize if I'm asking for something that is located throughout this thread. I did do a search on the thread but came up with nothing.

I was hoping someone might have a copy of the recent AKL activity sheet. I know the activities may change when we go - but I'd like to get an idea of what is there before we schedule our ADRs. We are going for Spring Break, and are planning to spend a lot of time doing resort stuff. . .our first stay at AKL. :) I did do a google search and came up with some activity schedules, but most of them were 2 - 3 years old.

Thank you in advance to anyone able/willing to share.

Debra

First I want to thank everyone for their helpful responses! I'm one of the posters who was involved with the many posts on the DIS about this particular seller. I've even had the police involved. Didn't go far (yet) since he technically didn't commit a crime with me yet. Most of the posts were removed from the DIS boards. I guess the moderators didn't want negative things on the boards. I definately will NOT do the online check in since many here have said that it does send the owner a confirmation. I think that may give him a reason to cancel us!:scared1:

Good morning, Jamborinis! :sunny:

Today brings another step forward for Bob. :goodvibes Home Health will do his final discharge and then he will begin outpatient day rehab (PT, OT and speech) at one of our local hospitals on Friday! Five months!!

Can't seem to ever catch up:headache:

But I wanted to tell you about the podcast....I mentioned that I was invited to record a WDW podcast. It's called the Lost Boys List...Search for it on ITunes (If you don't use ITunes let me know, I can get a link to listen) the topic was my 5 fav places to propose at WDW:love: It's up and running as of yesterday. You don't have to subscribe, just look for the episode dated 6/12/11 w/the title proposing at WDW...It's about a 38 min podcast and I'm in the last 18-20 min or so...Would love it if you all got to hear me:hug:

123 more days until WDW:yay:

We'll add about 2 weeks prior to departure just because I don't like to push it any more than that. I liked it a bit better when you didn't have to pay for the DDP, as a DVC member, until you arrived.

Don't hit me...but I think you could have bought an AP voucher (with the DVC discount) on Friday/Saturday and paid the old price. Wouldn't have "activated" til you used the voucher in September.

I agree, though, losing the 5 months of use would negate any savings.

We're going to see Katy Perry. It was my wife's birthday present (which was back in March). My mom's taking the kids so we're without kids from Saturday morning til some time on Sunday.

We are doing MNSSHP, on the 11th. Guys (me, my son, and my step dad) are doing Pirates league that day (and we all have pirate costumes) and the girls (DW, eldest DD, youngest DD, and my mom) are doing Bippity Boppity Boutique that day (and they all have their princess costumes ready to go).

LOVE her - hope you guys have fun!!!

First suggestion, Catch 35: http://www.catch35.com/chicago-01-home.html (moderately priced)

For a great steak, Chicago Cut Steakhouse http://www.chicagocutsteakhouse.com/ or Gibson's http://www.gibsonssteakhouse.com/

Trattoria 10 is a good bet. Pretty "upscale" though.

Pretty sure there is a Giordanno's Pizza (WHICH IS DIVINE!!) in that area.

Miller's Pub, I think, is around there. Not bad and super casual.

For something REALLY different, there's a place called "The Melting Pot" on North Dearborne. It's a fondue restaurant. It's a little pricey...but if the company is picking up the tab, I say go for it.

I saw the Giordanno's Pizza last night and we stopped in Miller's Pub (in the hotel right next door)to eat last night but there was a 2 hour wait.

There is some kind of cable TV and furniture convention here, this place is crowded... have not seen this many people in DC....

So I am on TDY but only get limited $$ to spend on food, so I might do one up scale and the rest moderate.

Thanks again for all the great suggestions....

...hey, anyone watch the newest installment of that new show My Yard goes Disney ?? It featured the AK!!!
