I have an O'Hana ADR at 7:35 on the 29th. Since MK doesn't open until 9 that day, I'm afraid we won't be able to rely on the bus system. Should I just take a cab or do you think there will be a bus running early enough?

There will be a bus running early enough BUT if might be easier (and less stressful!) to take a cab! ;)

You'd have to take the bus to MK, then monorail to Poly. Yeah, take a cab!! :thumbsup2

I have asked this on the thread with 250 pages with no response. Then I saw this great link, so I have switched subscriptions!

I'm sure this has been asked, we will be staying at Kiidani in October and was wanting to ask for some advice. We are travelling with a 4 year old and a 1 1/2 year old, we reserved a Standard View one Bedroom.

I have looked at the map, but it does not show what rooms are Standard views.

What would be a good room request near the pool (If possible), just makes it easier to with the kids.

Thanks for the advice!

Ukie Mouse.

I'd go with exactly that:

As close to the pool as possible (which, also, is probably going to put you close to the lobby).

Maybe add a request to be near the elevators, too.

Floor doesn't matter, really, since no matter what floor you're on, you're going to have to hop on an elevator, down into the parking area, to most easily walk out to the pool (don't believe them when they tell you to walk from the lobby...it's MUCH longer).

Standard view, at Kidani means parking lot view or pool view. You'll probably be either near the lobby on the "pool side" of Kidani, or somewhere along the "front" side of the the other end (the right side in the map, below).

You could buy a cheap wireless travel router ($50-ish) and hook it up. Here's the rub, though:

The first time you hook up to the connection each 24 hour period, you have to accept disney's terms of service (and agree to their fee...which is waived for dvc, but you still have to accept it). SOMETIMES that page won't get "served" through the router and you have to manually connect.

MOST laptops and even subnotebooks have a LAN port on the back (looks almost like an oversized phone jack) or side. Look to see if it's there. If not, and you're worried about whether you can connect, you could buy a cheap USB ethernet adapter like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-USB300M...V4TQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307380084&sr=8-1

Disney provides a network cable in your room (in a little grey bag hanging in the closet).

I use a lnksys travel router like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-Wirel...VUCG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307380123&sr=8-1

and I've always been able to get it to serve the "agreement" page. But your mileage may vary. You can find them for a LOT less than the price at the above page (just maybe not that model which, I think, has been discontinued).

Also: Make sure you enable the encryption on the wireless network you set up. Otherwise, you'll get "piggybackers" on your network and face potential security risks to your PC. WEP-128 bit security is easy to enable and will give you a long code you have to punch in to connect to the router. It's best to mess with all that stuff at home, BEFORE you go to Disney (using your home wireless internet connection as a guinea pig/test lab). That way, once you arrive, it's as easy as plugging everything in.

Thank you for you help! :cool1:

Thanks!!:thumbsup2 I can't decide how I feel about the new Pirates not having him in there.

My kids kept asking me where Elizabeth and Will Turner were. I did miss WT:sad2: in the movie but the movie overall was still good.

I have to say I LOVE your avatar too:cloud9:

I would definately take a cab. They will have them right there waiting for you and it will probably cost about $15 and so worth it as they will drop you right off at the Poly.

Thanks RachelTori,

I was not sure where the block of standard view rooms were, but I was hoping some were located near the pool.

I will be requesting a room near the pool, and hopefully it works out for us! Again, thanks for the advice.

...if you've booked a std room, I'd request Giraffe Trail if I were you.

I was looking at the Kidani map to get a feel of the rooms and I have a few questions:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/Kindani_Village_Map.jpg

If I put in a request (back when I made the reservation) for a SV room, near the lobby, what are my chances of getting that?

If you look at the "pearls", what's the walking time through each one?

What rooms face the savanna, even or odd #'s?

Not sure of the walking time, but it would be a hike from one end to the other!!

Even numbered rooms are savannah view. I stayed in a 1 bedroom (# 7534) which was on the 5th floor; midway between the lobby and Jambo, by the Zazu Elevator. Great location but I would have rather been on a lower floor (closer view of the animals!) on Sunset Savannah.

The half closer to Jambo is more convenient for the buses and getting to Jambo; the newer half is closer to the pool and Pembe Savannah (which I'm not familiar with).

I don't feel to good about it!:sad1:

I miss them both:sad1: I did like the movie, but I didn't love it:confused3

Would that be a good request for the main building? Sorry this is our first visit to AKL not sure of the buildings and how its all laid out. The girls and I are going in July, and I would prefer to be close to the bus stop, but didn't pay for any upgraded rooms.

THANKS !

Hey Everyone........... Hope all is well - here good, just hotter than hot! :flower3:

Looks like a great trip, Robbie, but it did look cold and wet. We have friends who have been in Yellowstone and the surrounding areas for the past two weeks also. They sent us pictures of lots of snow and heavy coats, as well as fog and rain. Still gorgeous country, isn't it?

Yes it was. :goodvibes It is amazing the different beautiful landscapes that we have in this country.

Hope you had a wonderful time and look.forward to hearing all about it.

yes I had a great time. If I ever get my photos downloaded, I will post some.

WOW that is alot of driving:confused: But sounds like a wonderful trip. Someday when the kids are older and we want to venture out of Disney:rolleyes1 I would love to see the Grand Canyon and Yellow Stone Park

It was a lot of driving, basically, I could have driven to Disney & back. Oh wait, I am going that in August. :rotfl2: But I really enjoyed seeing another part of the country. Definitely make time when your kids are older to visit some of the parks. The beauty of the parks is truly amazing and nothing beats driving along a road and seeing bison & elk out in the wild. :)

Thanks! How much do you think that would run us?

AROUND $20 + tip. Maybe a bit less.

You can have the resort call you a cab. Make sure that if you have a larger party that they request a van when they call.

I have a question: SV meaning Savannah view, or SV meaning Standard view?

Either way, Chances are not bad..but "near the lobby" is a popular request because it puts you near both the theme park transportation AND an easy entrance (via elevator) to the pool area. Assuming your trip is the one referenced in your counter....I'd say chances are even better because it's not real busy.

We walked the entire interior of the resort, from one end to the other in about 15 minutes...maybe a couple minutes longer. We're fast walkers, though.

I can't remember which side is odd and which is even...I'll check the scrapbook to see if I can ferret out our room number from our last trip. We were on the Pembe Savannah (front) side of the resort.
