Sake's Alive! AKL Lite V!!

This sums up my day today.

Good morning everyone.

The boot is headed to the pentagon. Wow, this is going to be so much fun!

How did the boot do at the pentagon?

My "walking shoe" is fixin' to go to the grocery store!

and of course I had to get the injury pre-pedicure - which is on hold for the time being!!


I am such a mess!!! Besides the damage I did to my right foot, I have a huge bruise on my left knee (oh, that's why it hurt so much!); scrapes all over my left foot; and one of the toes on my left foot is black and blue (and hurts!!).

On the bright side, Tori LOVES her dorm, has a great roommate, has reconnected with some old friends, and is having a blast -- of course once classes start, her enthusiasm may wane a bit!!

OMG Laura.....nice way to get Tori off to a good start!!! Glad you're doing better though. I was thinking of you guys and getting her off to school. Glad she likes her roommate...that's a big plus.
I think you need a nice, relaxing trip to WDW....I can hear the animals at AKL calling you!!!!

Thanks Diane! It's been almost 2 whole weeks since I saw the animals -- I miss them and am ready to go back!! I'll be walking rather slowly, but at least I'll be walking!

Tori and her roommate share a bathroom and a kitchen, but they have their own bedrooms. I think that's a wonderful way to ensure that roommates will stay friends!

Just got back late last night! Had an awesome time at AKL! We did get flamingos and those cute little animals down the pool slides in the am! Nice surprise! It was super hot and we did seem to have our days of rain! It rained so bad last night our flight was a bit delayed going home. My only complaint about most of the pools at Disney are the fact that you cannot find a clock anywhere. I know you are on vacation and should not worry about the time but when you have dinner reservations sometimes you just need to keep an eye on the time. We ate at the Mara for breakfast and a few times for lunch. Spent a lot of time at the pool towards the end of the week. Park hoppers and water park options used too! First time getting blisters on my feet and also came home with the Disney rash on my feet and lower legs. That is becomming a tradition for me. Glad to be home but we already miss our AKL home.

There is an infection starting in his throat from where the tube was inserted, so they are going to take him off the ventilation machine tonight, the Dr's think he will breathe on his own.

Other than that everything else is the same, still not conscious.

I feel like I'm interrupting a conversation here, but here goes... I made 2 mistakes on my May '11 vacation:

1st - I stayed at AKL - now I'll never be able to stay at another resort again. No giraffes? No good.

2nd - I didn't recce rooms for the next visit.

I'm not doing Arusha next visit (31 Aug) to save a couple of $ - can anyone recommend a specific room - we're looking for privacy, great animal views and no people pens - don't care how long the walk is and am open to both Uzima and Sunset.

I'd appreciate any advice from more experienced AKLers. TIA.

I love the photo of the giraffe hiding behind the tree! we visited right after a rain storm and it looked like it was perfect time...feeding time!

That's why we're AKL Lite -- we stray onto other topics quite often!!! You are certainly welcome here. Please don't feel for a moment that you are interrupting.

It's not a good idea to request a specific room. For privacy, great animal views and no people pens I'd recommend you request to be at the end of Kudu trail. It's a hike, but the barn is down on that end and there is often lots of animal activity. Also, being on the end, there is very little foot traffic, except maybe people like me who like to go out on the stairwells and take pictures of the animals!

The last pod on Kudu has rooms numbered X371-X395 (X being the floor number, 2 through 5). The odd-numbered rooms are the ones you want!

That's just my suggestion. Perhaps someone else has another suggestion.

I use a D80 and a couple of different lenses. Which NIKON do you use.

D5100 and a 300 times zoom for those photos. I didn't take the zoom to the parks though....to heavy! It was my birthday gift to myself this year.

Disney Dining and Fest lines are crazy busy this morning! I booked the Italy Dessert & Wine Pairing for 10/6. Figured surely they will serve Banfi - Rosa Regale!! I'm happy and now maybe I can get some work done today!
