I'm pretty new .... lurk a lot ..... but can you please tell me where and how to sign up for this tour? And how much it costs. It sounds amazing! Thank you so much .... I love this thread! :goodvibes

No need to sign up and no cost!! :thumbsup2 Check the Daily Activities board to confirm the time, but usually it's at 4:00pm daily -- stop by the Boma podium about 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time and let them know you want to take the Culinary Tour. Enjoy!! :cloud9:

Good Morning Jamborini's and Kidanites!!!! GREAT news today, my middle DS is in the AF and today found out he made staff sergeant, his first time up for it!!! YAY - SO PROUD of him!!!! (he said, " I had to do it, since --- did it") our other son, his older brother, made it his first time up for it too!!! LOL - so the brotherly competition never ends........... LOL

Wendy, you must be so proud! Congrats to your son! :yay::yay:

So i have torn the cartilage between my foot and big toe, this caused a flap to fold over backwards and rub between the joint.

Painful. Yes.

Ugh i hate this boot already.

It even sounds painful.:sad2: Take care of yourself; don't overdue it.

Thank you so much for the info - I will be doing this in Oct when I'm there.:woohoo:

Just noticed your NCL ticker! woohoo! Nice...our next NCL is in March of 2013..we return on Easter and will spending the day at port...NOLA!

Have a wonderful time!!!!!!

An Easter cruise will be fun! I will be interested to hear how NOLA is as a port.

We are looking forward to this trip. We just had a terrible experience driving back from Atlanta; car broke down and we were stuck 3 days waiting for the repair!

Wendy - congrats to your son. No wonder you are one proud Mom!

Thanks!!

Hi to all the Jamborinis and Kidanites!! I've missed you all.

There is no way I'm going to be able to catch up on all the pages I've missed!

Brandi, Oh my goodness - that does sound painful. :sad1: I'm glad you can still make your big trip. :goodvibes

Diana, good to see you back here with us..... where you belong!

Still no Kimmar? :confused3 I hope she's back soon.

We met up with Laura & Marco yesterday afternoon! :yay: What an amazing couple. :cloud9: They are adorable! :goodvibes We spent a couple hours with them. (We have pictures, but that will take a day or 2.) They gave Tori a beautiful necklace from Italy and a calendar from their city, Milano. So sweet of them!

We did the culinary tour together and it had changed since the last time I did it. We started in Boma, and I was a little perplexed that the lovely CM was telling us about the wonderful foods, which weren't out yet  - so she was pointing to the little signs on top of the pods! But by the time we got to the soup pod, the carrot ginger soup was ready for sampling! ;) AND, we did each get a Zebra Dome! :cloud9:

After Boma, we were escorted to Jiko where we were served the breads and dips. Although we didn't get to speak with a Jiko or Boma chef, it was the best culinary tour I've been on!! (I guess this was my 4th or 5th!!)

Our trip was amazing, but we will NEVER, EVER (and I mean it!!!) go again in July or August!!! The heat and humidity were AWFUL. :headache: (of course now that we're home, the heat and humidity aren't much better in Atlanta!!! :rotfl2:)

Some sad news (which I haven't seen posted): some of you may remember the ankole cattle with the permanently tilted head (the result of an ear infection). Tori looked for him and after several days of not seeing him, we asked a CM out on Arusha rock. This CM didn't know when exactly, but "Bubba" had passed away either late last year or very early in 2011. :sad1: This CM arrived in February and Bubba was already gone. She said many, many guests ask about him.

Pictures soon, I promise.

I'm going over to the Meet thread now...........

Glad you enjoyed the trip!!! It's nice you got to see Laura and Marco!!!! Cannot wait for pics!!! We LOVE the culinary tour too - glad to hear it was even better than the last few times!!! I'm planning on trying to do it again this trip - and who know's, there might even be some other Jamborini's there!! ;)

I'm so sad to hear about Bubba - :sad1: I know how much we enjoy all the animals, so, I hate hearing that!!!

AND yeah, check out the meet thread, there's been a lot of activity over there!!!

Wendy congrats to your son!:goodvibes

Thanks!!

AND - I got some other FANTASTIC news today..............................
are you guys ready for this???????????????????????????????

My middle son, the one who made staff today - called me when he got off work this afternoon - I thought to talk about that...................... NOPE - he and his wife are EXPECTING........................... YEP YEP YEP - I'm getting 2 grandbabies now!!!! YAY :yay: :yay: :yay:

I'm SO excited - this is wonderful!!!!! My oldest DS and DIL are due in Feb. and my middle DS and DIL are due in March or April --- I'm in "Mimi" overload right now...................... So ummmm yeah, anybody who has extra huggies I know where you can send them................... LOL

Congratulations! As long as they remain men there will be that competition! :rotfl2:

I have noting meaningful to add to the discussion today.;) So here is my useless update :upsidedow ;) Getting my hair done for the last time in Hawaii. Paying off my trip today:woohoo: One part of me is ready to hit the road the other part is scared to go :confused3.

Ready for some ZDomes and drinks :rotfl:

Paying off the trip is nothing to laugh at! Great job! :thumbsup2

Our waitlist came through for AKV! We had Kidani Std view and we got our Kidani SV.....DH will be happy. Even if its for one night!

Thanks for the reminder franandaj! Need to start my grocery list!! DH loved the kitchen in OKW....we did alot of our meals that time....for us with kids of all ages, makes it easier for us! DH still doesnt know what an ADR is! lol

So glad your waitlist came through! I'm always thinking about my grocery list, but for this next trip its a big challenge. We are trying to think of non-perishable items we can buy in case we decide to hit the F&W festival instead of cook in the room. It's really hard because I don't like spam and she doesn't like canned clams and we don't have any good tuna recipies! :lmao:

This sums up my day today.

Yikes! I'm so sorry, and with your European trip coming up! Sorry you will have an extra "accessory".

Glad your DISmeet went well and the culinary tour sounds wonderful.

That is so sad about Bubba. We were there January 20-30, 2010 with the last five nights at Kidani. We took the Wanyama Safari tour on out 3rd night I think which would have been the 28th in 2010. I believe this is Bubba, and this tour was the first that I had heard of him. Though we did the tour three years earlier.

If the CM you speak of joined in Feb 2011, we caught him in his final year at the lodge. That is too sad. I have some better pictures of him, but I'm away from home right now and don't have MY computer with all my pictures. This is one that I happened to have in PB.

RIP Bubba, I thought about him often after our trip to the lodge. I'm so sorry I won't see him when we go there again next May. :sad2:

Brandi, I hope your foot heals fast and that your "new shoe" does not impact your vacation too much.

Thanks for the info about the culinary tour. I just might have to convince Dh to do this with me:rolleyes1

Welcome home, Laura!! We have never done the culinary tour... I always seem to forget to do it. :rotfl: Sounds like something to put on our agenda the next time we stay at AKL.

Bubba was there at Christmas last year... so sorry he is not there anymore. :( But with his inner ear problems I bet he was a little uncomfortable so maybe it is a blessing.

I am glad you all had a great time. Bob and I got a postcard from "the other Laura" that she mailed from Italy before they left. I knew she was going to be a sweetie!! :goodvibes

Wendy - TWO grandbabies! How exciting for you.

Good morning, Jamborinis and Kidanites! :sunny:

Brandi - Now why did you have to go and do something like that??? Hope it gets to feeling a little better so you can enjoy your trip!

Brandi, Oh my goodness - that does sound painful. :sad1: I'm glad you can still make your big trip. :goodvibes

Thanks everyone....

I am still getting used to this thing, it is pretty heavy and I do this Frankenstein monster walk that I am sure is amusing on the viewing side of things... But I did make it into work today, so far so good.

:cheer2:
