I need a rant...

My only walkable supermarket (apart from Aldi) is a Sainsburys and in their wisdom, only 5 weeks before Christmas they have decided to refurbish and totally change the layout of the store. Not just a few changes, but everything apart from the freezers and fridges has moved.

I'm just back from a "quick nip" for a few specific items and have spent half an hour wandering around, avoiding other equally confused customers, trying to find what I wanted. It would have been quicker to get in the car and drive up the road to Tesco!!

Libby they are doing this to our sainsburys too we are getting a whole new floor so in their wisdom they have changed the car park first so its utter chaos in the car park when its busy noone has a clue where to go and the best bit is the people they have employed to direct traffic are huddled together out of the rain under the trolley bays :rotfl2:
Needless to say there are more than afew people complaining just when i left the store !!!:)

That is why they do it, people are more likely to go down isles they
wouldn't normaly go down and therefore buy things they didn't go in for as they have to search for item they would normal go straight too.

Think about it this way - if you take the time to learn the store then you'll be able to zoom around and get all the good stuff for christmas while everybody else is confused looking for it :lmao:

Ours is being re-organised too  For weeks aswell, hopefully it will be done soon.
On Friday they were moving the fridge cabinets where the meat was so there was no meat at all :scared1: Really messed up my plans for the weeks food and we had to go out again for the meat.

Oh, yes, I know that moving stuff is common practice but this is major. Everything has been moved, some ailses are totally empty and others have been blocked off.

I don't think they can be putting a new floor in as the council owned multi-storey carpark is above the store.

I just hope they don't start moving the fridges and freezers or I may have to take the satnav next time I shop.

They've been doing the same recently at our local Asda and its really frustrating as everything is in odd places - theres no order to anything

Never say never about the floor - we have a huge Marks & Spencer near us that's the size and design of a large out of town supermarket.

So - as they weren't allowed to change the actual building shell, they simply built a big kind of "floating" second floor in the middle of the store, without actually touching the building shell.

i beleive you mean a mezanine floor is what we call it (I work for Tesco hehe)
Trust me it is just as bad for us when things move, we have to re learn where things go and also put up with being asked 40 times a day when the tissues have been moved to hehe. So spare a thought for us as well lol.

The advantage with Sainsburys is once every store has had its refit, the layout will be pretty much identical in all of them:thumbsup2

It maybe annoying but I worked for Sainsburys for 9 years & it when the funding became available for the refit, onces its been allowed they get on with the job as many stores have been told they have to wait longer. The ones that get done 1st are the ones not making the profits they should be.

I do understand the employees' frustration but at least they are being frustrated in working time - I was wasting my own time wandering around.

Unfortunately that doesn't help as I only ever go to the local Sainsburys. If I'm driving I'd much rather be going to Tesco.

I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually - or I'll get more Tesco points by not going to Sainsburys.

When the store I worked in had its refit, it had extra staff helping people to find stuff & had maps printed. I'm surprised they didn't do that for your local store

I've been to Sainsbury's this morning and finally found the maps! They were at the checkouts for people to pick up as they leave the store.

:hug:I know how you feel our closest supermarket is Morrisons and the totally refurbished it in October, I now detest going in there nothing is common sense , when they rearranged it all only the freezer sections were left alone. It is annoying when you only need a few things and they have relocated them to stupid places for example the eggs are next to the bread and water filters but no where near the dairy section or the butchers or the baking goods for the love of common sense why :confused3 Sandwiches are next to the plants:confused3 Pizzas are next to the hot pies and snacks and pre-cut cheeses which are next to the vegetables. Even the chiller cabinets have had stuff moved the chicken portions are now next to the pies and pasties but not next to the actual meat or deli-cuts. I won't go into the cleaning stuff and electrical items it's just mad:headache: Whoever did this should be sacked:mad:
Customers don't want to be traipsing around in a store all morning to do a weekly shop...our time is precious... no wonder online grocery shopping is such a hit. I'm sticking with Asda at least their website is understandable and quick to navigate any other odds and ends I can pick up in the town on my way to work.
