Sailing Today- wheelchair question

A member of our family needs a wheelchair for port days but doesn't need it on the ship or for embarkation. Can we check the wheelchair with our luggage so it'll be delivered to the stateroom when our luggage arrives?

We took a transport chair for my Mum, so that folds and we have a bag for it. I was able to stick a luggage tag on it and it was delivered along with our bags. Just have an extra luggage tag on it, and ask when you drop your luggage and hopefully they can accommodate it. When we had to take the chair but Mum wasn't really using it, we stuck all our carry on bags on it and used it as a luggage cart. Have fun on your cruise!

Yes, you can check it, but there's a lot of waiting around on embarkation day, and it's nice to have a place to sit. When we traveled with DMIL and her wheel chair we also had her walker and checked it, then when we disembarked we forgot to pick up the walker with the rest of the luggage, and didn't miss it til we got to WDW. DCL was kind enough to ship it home for us. My point is to count the number of bags, etc. you check so you can keep track of it all.

Personally, I would take it in case there is a delay or even to just hold your carry ons while you are waiting for your room to be open.

I'm probably responding too late for OP who said they are boarding today, but for future readers... I would NOT check any medical equipment with the porters. I simply wouldn't trust how it's handled, even something that appears as durable as a manual wheelchair (though some transport chairs don't feel as rugged). Removable pieces (such as footrests) can come off and get lost, wheels or rims could be bent, even slightly, or other parts, rendering it challenging to use and you'd be stuck. I recommend you bring it onboard yourself. If the wheelchair isn't actually needed during the boarding process, use it to tote your carry-ons.
